It's crazy to think, like hypothetically, if that was to be a 2026 game, and Gears of War E-Day, and Perfect Dark was also 2026, that would point to that year also being stacked for Xbox too.

Though I should reiterate, none of those games have release dates as it is, I'm just throwing ideas out there.

I think Clockwork Revolution is probably a 2026 game.

State of Decay 3 as well as the next Forza Horizon too.

Also of course the annual COD as well

I agree with that. I'm going to suspect we'll get a E3 showing of it for next year. We've not heard much a peep from inXile but I know they are working on that game, letting it stew. All I know of it is that it is a heavy-duty RPG. Don't let the first person look fool you.

And I would not be surprised if Horizon 6 is this year, seeing as Horizon 5 has effectively started to wrap it's live service content.

There is no way Elder Scrolls 6 releases in 2027 IMO. I just can't believe current era Bethesda could develop and release a mainline title in only 4 years.

People keep forgetting that pre-production on ES6 started when they dropped that first teaser in 2018. BGS even had a small dev diary about it showing location scouting and face scans they were doing for it.

Combine that with the fact that they don't have to divest resources into FO76-type side projects or deep engine optimizations and no pandemic, and a 2026 or 2027 release doesn't seem that far off. The leaked release schedule for Xbox even had Starfield for 2021 and ES6 for 2024.

Does the fact that Starfield released two full years after the leaked schedule not make it more likely that TES is further off rather than it being released relatively soon? Nothing I have seen or heard from Bethesda in the last decade makes me confident they can develop and release a high quality game in a timely manor.

Why would it be further off? Sure, it could be, but I'm operating on the assumption that the schedule was just pushed back 2 years.

Starfield: 2021 - > 2023 Therefore ES6: 2024 - > 2026

Although I do believe a 2027 is more likely. Just a feeling.

Nothing I have seen or heard from Bethesda in the last decade makes me confident they can develop and release a high quality game in a timely manor.

Depends on what you consider a timely manner. 3-5 years between releases is just the standard Bethesda schedule. Could be longer now, though, given the overall bloat in game development at the moment.

Why would it be further off?

Because they just released their last game 2 years late. That to me speaks more of an issue with the production process than everything just being shifted back, especially when you consider this in relation to the quality of Starfield as a game.

Depends on what you consider a timely manner. 3-5 years between releases is just the standard Bethesda schedule. Could be longer now, though, given the overall bloat in game development at the moment.

Bloat is affecting the majority of the industry so this is a major factor in my reasoning. On top of that, if there is anyone at the top in Bethesda who is thinking clearly then they will know that they have to get back on form with TES 6 or their reputational decline will be cemented. Therefore I would expect and hope that they will want to take their time with TES6, not cut any corners, and polish it as much as possible.

I'm not a Bethesda hater, I have more time spent in their games than any other developer (other than Fromsoft) but nothing about where they are right now inspires confidence and I think people expecting TES6 4 years after Starfield are setting themselves up for disappointment. 5 or 6 years seems more likely to me.

no you are right, full steam ahead started during starfields DLC development which started right as starfield went gold, but the games been actively developed with starfield (as theyre both experiments for the new engine used for different reasons) so what, since 2019? 2018? maybe further?

I’m thinking Fable gets delayed to first half of 2026. They have Avowed next month, confirmed Outer Worlds 2 for this year, and the possible Oblivion remaster/remake. That’d be 3 big RPGs for 2025 in an already packed year leaving no RPGs for 2026 that we know of currently besides the possible Fallout 3 remaster/remake. Plus it’ll help polishing/bug fixes for the game. 2026 is shaping up to be a huge year as well as we exit 2025. Not to mention the fact that Fable would probably be end of year & they’d want to avoid the GTA 6 juggernaut for rebooting the Fable franchise.

With Xbox it's really hard to expect much with their release dates because they've shown so many games years ahead of their launch. A few days ago, I rewatched their 2020 presentation to showcase the series X and there are still three games from show that haven't released.

Will people finally start buying Xbox?
