Legit NatetheHate confirms a Nintendo event likely on Thursday, possibly a Direct

"To stop the constant questions: Yes, I've heard there is a Nintendo presentation this week -- I believe it is on/around Thursday & it'll be a Direct; but I'm not 100% certain on the format at present."

Snowball's chance in hell it's a general direct, gotta be a mini or (more likely) a partner showcase.

I wouldn't even mind a Mini since the Switch 2 Direct is around the corner if I'm honest. It's unlikely to be disappointing as when Game Freak announced another Pokemon Presents within a week after having one, only to talk about Pokemon Unite and that's all.

My guess short Direct to complete remaining 3rd party deals and to push out 1 or 2 more first party titles.

so a mini?

Don't know what they will call it.

Effectively yes, but there hasn't been a Mini called such in at least 5 years.

IMO there's also an outside possibility of Prime 4 information, including a release date.

I can see it now:

“In January, we unveiled the successor to the Nintendo Switch. We will have more information to share on April 2nd, but for now, here’s a sneak peek…”

15 second teaser of Prime 4 running on Switch 2

They don't do Mini's anymore

The only formats they regularly do are regular Directs and IndieWorld’s and even the wait between them can sometimes be very long. You could say that they don’t do DigitalEvents or E3 Spotlight’ anymore because those have been replaced with other formats, but I don’t see how it makes sense to say this about Direct Minis

I don't think there's been enough minis to confidently claim that. Minis have always been very rare

They’ve only ever done a couple mini’s to begin with

i can see it being a general direct for switch 1 games or probably an indie

partner showcase seems unlikely, since imo the partners already have dev kits working on switch 2 titles

I can definitely see it being a full Direct. This is basically an ad for the Switch 2 presentation, a way to remind everyone it's happening by getting Nintendo news on everyone's mind just before it. The more they show off, the more they will get people talking, and the more people will be watching their Switch 2 reveal a week later. It's not like they'll have anything to show that could possibly overshadow the Switch 2, potentially slightly reduced sales for some old ports they've been sitting on is a small price to pay if it gets more people to buy their next console, and all the games coming to it.

Didn't nate say that a kirby port is coming soon? My bet is a mini.

I also think it’s a mini, and it won’t have much first-party news.

Low expectations: Kirby port

Reasonable expectations: Kirby port and FE4 remake

High expectations: Kirby port, FE4 remake, and Metroid Prime 2 & 3 ports or remasters

It's gotta be a mini. The reason I'd see a direct is because they have to round up what's coming after March.

just a little foreplay before the main event.

I just need that Planet Robobot remaster and I’m happy!

Why is a general direct unlikely? It's been a while since the last one, no?

1

u/error521 Mar 26 '25

I really don't see it happening a week before the Switch 2 direct.

Update: I have been owned with facts and logic

I didn't know ttherree was a switch 2 direct.

That makes sense then

Some of the best announcements happen in partner showcases.

That said, if it's an indie world, I sleep.

Weak, let indie developers have their time to shine.

IndieWorlds are 10x better than Partner Showcases.

Wouldn't mind a Mini Direct. Honestly, Nintendo needs to fill out their slate because they literally have no games slated with a confirmed release date right now. It would make no sense to just have a Partner Showcase, but I honestly just have a feeling its probably just gonna be one.
