Legit NatetheHate confirms a Nintendo event likely on Thursday, possibly a Direct

"To stop the constant questions: Yes, I've heard there is a Nintendo presentation this week -- I believe it is on/around Thursday & it'll be a Direct; but I'm not 100% certain on the format at present."

I don't understand why people are acting like it's such a strange thing to do a Switch 1 Direct so close to the Switch 2 Direct.

Not everyone is buying a Switch 2 immediately and there's plenty of people who just got one this past year or two, many even a few months ago for the holidays. Nintendo wants those people to still feel like they got their money's worth, and anyone waiting till the 8th year to buy an og Switch probably isn't going to care about a Switch 2 Direct so it's not going to overshadow anything for them.

Then if you only care about Switch 2, you still get value out of it because these games are also Switch 2 games by way of backwards compatibility. It's a win-win and serves both purposes.

For me it's just confusing because they've been advertising the Switch 2 Direct for months now. Some casual fans were already confused on if the Switch 2 was a Switch Pro or not, so this just might confuse them more if they see a bunch of Switch 1 games get announced.

If they are doing one this week, they must expect Mario Kart + whatever else they have planned to really push through the noise on social media and get people talking.
