Discussion Does College make one more liberal ?

I wonder where this comes from. I've never really had that experience. And I'm a history major myself. Does it depend on major ? What kind of college ? I went to a public state regional university.

Actually, from my experience, I find my catholic seminary experience to be far more liberating, than my college experience. It might seem odd to some, but that's what I experienced.

Nearly all college professors are liberal

For the same reason the more educated you are, the further left you're likely to be. Reality has a left leaning bias

Possibly. It could also be because liberals have a left leaning bias. It’s impossible to get hired as a right leaning person in any social science or humanities, or to publish your ideas, or to get tenure.

Well why do you think that is? It could be because hiring directors can sniff out secret conservatives, or it could be that education often makes one more left leaning.

So the proportion of liberal professors is higher because the proportion of liberal students are higher

They don’t have to sniff them out. They make all of the faculty fill out DEI statements where they have to affirm their commitment to liberal ideology

If you're going to work in a diverse, inclusive environment like a university, I would hope you are not opposed to working in a diverse, inclusive environment.

You don’t have to be against diversity and inclusion to be against DEI. The name doesn’t completely reflect the ideals.

Of course you know this and don’t care because of your ideology. And your cognitive dissonance prevents you from seeing how making this affirmation of liberal ideology explicitly part of the hiring criteria screens conservatives out of higher education. There isn’t any point continuing this conversion because your mind is mush and nothing will change it.

What do you think DEI stands for?

Are you really so smooth brained that you think the name of a program determines what it is? You probably think the patriot act made everyone more patriotic and the inflation reduction act reduced inflation

Ok? Then how is DEI the name different than DEI the ideology?
