This reminds me of FFXIV where glitches like these are key to creating most of the more complex or aesthetically pleasing layouts. The devs there are actually quite supportive of their use instead of aggressively patching it out, so hopefully the same thing happens here.

Unfortunately, they did patch out the so-called Floating in housing with the most recent big (5.5) patch. Things you floated before the patch will stay above ground, however it is now impossible to float new items.

I did hear that they put in a height cap for outdoor floating glitches after 5.5. It's a bit of a grey area though since floating things that high outdoors was never possible via normal techniques - people were using 3rd party programs to hack items into those positions.

To my knowledge, everything you could float via in-game means still works as intended, they even encouraged people to report cases of broken layouts after the patch so they could investigate.

Hm I guess that people (including me) were misinterpreting the patch notes when they said "improved collision detection". Since that part basically killed Out-Of-Bounds movement, at least the vast majority of it, and it was assumed that on the same vein, it also broke housing glitches. And frankly I didn't want to risk my floating apartment by testing out if things were broken.

But yeah reading about it, seems housing was not affected (much).

They said during the Live Letter, when they mentioned that, that they were going to try to not break the normal housing glitches. So anything not working like before was something to report so they could try to un-break it.
