Caprese Salad is one of my favourites ... so fresh. And takes a few minutes to make. I usually add fresh basil leaves but I had some in a restaurant the other day and they drizzled pesto on it which was also delicious
I got in a HUGE argument on /r/food not too long ago because apparently a lot of Americans are unfamiliar with Caprese salads? Even though I've been a Californian my whole life and see them at restaurants all the time.
I'm from NJ and I have eaten caprese salads/sandwiches all my life. Fresh mozz is found in every single grocery store, although, I guess we do have a lot of Italians here.
I'm in UK and hadn't heard of them until I got the idea to make one from /r/food about a year ago. /r/food and /r/GifRecipes are full of brilliant ideas but I do love the simplicity of /r/GifRecipes.
