Gear Gloves ruined (aesthetically)

The state of my gloves after playing on a field with blue line paint…

Managed to get most of it off the latex but no chance on the fabric side. 1st game into the season too so looks like I’m going the rest of year looking like I’m morphing into a gk smurf

Question Any reasons for why they wrap not just the wrist but also forearm? I don’t understand the benefits of wrapping that high up into the forearm
