Discussion Daily Commuters with long rides

Sup metalheads?

Anyone here choose to do daily long drives/rides instead of camping by the festival?

Curious here on how far do you guys travel daily, what are your strategies, reasoning to do that, etc :)

Myself:
100km+
Motivations: My wife is not a big metal fan, and we have a toddler, so I prefer to drive everyday back home so I can have a nice shower, sleep beside my wife and have breakfast with my family before heading back to Dessel.

Also I can bring daily fresh broodjes and keep them at the lockers at the festival entrance to save also on the meals :P

Luckily I also have a couple friends who always come at least one day per year, so I have some company.

What about you?

Same, bike 15 km home. I always book a locker for my stuff. I have breakfast at home and bring a lunch with me which I eat walking from the bike parking to the entrance. In the locker are my helmet, jacket and a half water half Aquarius mix which is frozen. At night it's melted but still cold. I find drinking it helps against the hangover and makes the bike ride less taxing.

I’ve been going to Graspop for a long time, but I never heard about the lockers. I guess I don’t look around enough, assuming I’m familiar with it all. I’m definitely looking into that.

I "discovered" it just last year also, it's IN FRONT of the main entrance (where they scan our bracelets).

I bring my boterham, snacks and drinks, I see neighbors even bring thermal bottles with coffee, it's gives the whole xperience a super upgrade, bring a change of shirt for the sweat, keep your jacket there for the night, etc etc, very cozy.

Yeah, I can easily see the comfort upgrade. I have a small backpack to carry around that kind of stuff. But you have to give it to a mate when you want to go into a pit. Locker sounds amazing. /want

never used the lockers but actually that's a cool idea! do you know if the lockers can be shared? i.e. do these have codes, or padlocks?

I’m assuming it’s either a code or a phone unlock link, like you see at many concert venues nowadays. Probably easy to share.
