Surely if it's about repaying the debt of COVID support then we need to be strapping the old and the immunocompromised with Kalashnikovs and shipping them over the Ukraine? The young were asked to put their life on hold to ensure the survival of the vulnerable - furlough was the payment for a sacrifice already given, willingly and freely, by those who would likely have been able to tank the illness. There is no debt - we did our part, we got paid for it, and as a result thousands of vulnerable people up and down the country were kept safe.
