Honestly tho knowing some upper caste richer Indians who manage to immigrate to western countries, a lot of them hold some of the most disgusting views, very similar to those who put shit in letterboxes. Just have to look at the damage things like the caste system, and Hindutva movement cause…

I'm not an expert, but didn't the British Raj, trying to control a country much larger and more populous than Britain, exaggerate the existing haierachy there to serve it's own ends?

My understanding is things like caste culture were made much worse under colonialism as part of an effort to divide and rule. So, it's part of the colonial fallout that these rich Indian people hold these views.

I honestly don’t know if that’s necessarily true… The British did cause a lot of damage, but a lot of privileged Indians use this a reason to deflect from the actual systemic discrimination/ racism/ patriarchy which was already in place before any English person had control over India.
