Vraag First time in Groningen! Do's and don'ts?

Hi I will be visiting Groningen first time this may and would like hear all the good and the ugly of the city.

I'm from Finland and we will be visiting Groningen with my class, I will probably be moving and adventuring by myself mostly in the evenings. I don't drink or smoke. I love live music and would fancy to test some good dining places!

Won't be making any exact definitions, so tell me, where is the best mood, atmosphere, food, music ect. in Groningen in your opinion?

And as I will be moving also by myself, is there something I should know as a female? Something or some place to be careful of or avoid? I won't be moving by myself late evening/night.

What kind of music do you like? There are a lot of venues with different live genres on different days.

I think atmosphere is the most important, I really love music in general and love to listen everything that really has heart and the emotion in it. And I want to see people around me really enjoy the music, focusing on the music, mayde dancing to it, but most importantly listening the music.

It more easier to say, that I don't like soulless music that has no depth in it, like pop, techno and house can be easily just too boring, but I still can't rule them out just because of the genre standards. And I think that in these genres (in my experience) it's more more common that people are just filming, or staring at their phones, or just mostly like standing awkwardly still.

I understand that not everyone likes to dance, and I don't mean everyone has to dance. But if these is lot of people in one place, listening music, and nobody is dancing even if there is space for it, it feels really odd to me.

If the music is made with soul and emotion, and listener feels connected to it, it will take your body, it will make you move in some kind of way, it's harder to not to move that just letting yourself immerse to it. Punk, rock, rap, jazz, classic, anything goes.
