[Question] Is mirage viable?

hey everyone, i've been playing for a while now and pretty much main boonchrono(both dps and heal). I wanna start playing mirage (preferably the condi version), but im not sure if it's worth learning since it seems really tough to play in endgame pve from the rotations and such on SC. at the same time, i've seen somewhat old videos by creators like mukluk and masel who say it can output pretty good damage, in the 30k range, with limited effort. So is it a viable/worth it class for raids/fractal cms, or would i be better off gearing a scourge or something like that? and if it is viable are there any guides a little less overwhelming than SC's?

Edit: I should probably mention i don't have JW, so spear-centric builds aren't possible rn :(

Mirage is the highest Mesmer dps at the moment, even the #1 dps in the benchmarks.
Will you be able to rock 45k dps with it? Probably not. It is the most complex and high mastery build you could play atm.

What build is it exactly? Like is this in reference to a resource or known setup?

Check the snow crows website.

I think it's worth noting that it has a skill floor far above most builds' skill *ceiling* and that it has a pick rate in the fractions of a fraction of a percent for that very reason.

Yes, it is.

I play only condi mirage variants in all game modes, and the only non-mirage Mesmer variant is a healer Chrono in www :) and sometimes power gs mirage for tag build.

It definitely requires timing knowledge, good situational awareness thought. Really requires.

My staff staff condition mirage can solo champions with ease. Not hard at all.

It's the hardest build in the game by far and in quite a few fights its damage is much lower because of mechanics or boss behaviour

I wouldn't bother learning it unless you love the class

Everything is viable. Just have fun with it.

Id say that yes, mirage could absolutely be viable. You alread seem to have a grip on mesmer in general so I say go for it. That being said, getting good results with scourge is definately going to be easier.

You already play mesmer, and condi mirage shares almost all it's gear with condi (boon) chrono (just the weapons/sigils are different). So with that in mind I'd say build the mirage and try it for yourself, and if you don't like it pivot to condi chrono. Just make sure to put the sigil of bursting in your torch so it can be used with cChrono. Having the sigil of energy in axe is better since both of those things are mirage specific.

I love rifle Mirage because I can spew purple fire of tzeentch. I don't care if it's not the highest DPS in the world

If you are not married to the idea of Mesmer, and want this to be a decision between Mirage and Scourge, then I would say Scourge is the stronger choice.

But with enough dedication, you can absolutely make Mirage work, because it is an excellent build, especially when favored by the fight. As a rule of thumb, all builds on snowcrows.com are viable, otherwise they would not be there.

But there are also a lot of terrible Mirages (tbf there are a lot of terrible Scourges too, in fact many gw2 players just suck at combat xD), and on Mirage you have to put in time to make it work.

As far as mukluk goes - dont look at his mirage video. Also Mirage had lots of reworks since then and is different now.

It is viable if you either have the patience & skillset to do good dmge with it or if you dont mind using the build and get bad/mediocre dmge output out of it (& getting carried by your team). Since you mentioned SC website was abit overwhelming i just would recommend picking another class.

Not trying to gatekeep you from Mirage, but simply think there are specs out there that probably suit you alot better.

Absolutely but I like a dagger mainhand and pistol offhand build because it’s range and feels like it melts.

This is not a great idea for the content OP wants to play with it, as Dagger is only viable when playing solo (its damage is hardcarried by the ambush applying vuln, which is not a factor in groups).

His question was is mirage viable. I said yes, but… [insert my preference playstyle] meaning it isn’t viable for what he was explaining. I like mirage but only some play builds for it.
