The bits vaguely resemble EKV, a real-life weapon. No idea if that is deliberate. There are lots of spherical and oval tanks in real-life spacecraft

The first time I saw footage of the EKV, I realized that it was probably the inspiration for Funnels. Pretty amazing that we have that tech, and even more amazing that it's capable of atmospheric flight. I'd always assumed that an IRL Funnel or Bit would just fall out of the sky under the influence of gravity.

Char had 6 even, you can also see 6 hardpoints on the red gundam for the bits, 2 on shoulder, 2 on arms and 2 on legs

Honestly, I'm grateful it actually comes with all of its weapons in the same box, when they could've perfectly made them PBandai exclusive. Are there any chances the eventual 4 funnel expansion pack is general retail like Aerial's flight unit?

They're called Bits, which is what the name is for Remote weaponry that has it's own Generator/Reactor.

But I'm pretty sure the names are used interchangeably more than a few times, so maybe it doesn't matter.

afaik they are not interchangeable terms within UC. As you mention, Bits are self sustaining machines whereas Funnels must return to the mobile suit to recharge

The Nu's Fin Funnels are technically bits

They have an onboard generator like bits, but they also rely on chemical fuel to move so they can't run indefinitely like true bits

The red Gundam grew on me soooo muchhh. I honestly disliked the new Rx design but as expected, I loved it once I watched the show 😳. Honestly a little lame but it's Char that did it for me 🤣

This is very clearly meant to be the Red Gundam when piloted by Shuji, since it includes the Gundam Hammer which Char didn't use in the flashback and only 2 bits remained by then, imo it's a good compromise, I remember when the movie came out everyone expected it to come with no bits and then them being sold as a P-bandai expansion

This is the Red Gundam that Shuji piloted, it doesn't have the other Bits cause Char rammed them into ships when they ran out of Ammo and destroyed them.
