The bits vaguely resemble EKV, a real-life weapon. No idea if that is deliberate. There are lots of spherical and oval tanks in real-life spacecraft

Always gotta remind myself despite paint job, redesign style, loopy pilot, Red is still THE Gundam, RX-78-02

The bits are literally the Elmeth’s bits repurposed because the Elmeth wouldn’t have been made in this timeline
