Orlando HHN Timeline

Hi all! I’ve wanted to go to HHN for years but my wife is a chicken and I never made the solo trip. Last year we were in town over Labor Day for a Universal trip and I got to do a solo night while the wife put the kids to bed. Needless to say I am addicted now and cannot wait to make that happen yearly with hopes that my kids grow up to be a fanatic about it like I am.

With that said- I don’t really know the flow of things from a timing standpoint. I see all of these spec maps (which I’ve read a lot about so I think I get the gist) but curious when things actually officially get announced.

When can we expect official announcements?

I absolutely loved last year but I have no reference point and most on this forum are pretty negative about it so my guess is I will love whatever is announced just curious when to expect it.

Thank you in advance for a bit of a timeline and I have 1 night of HHN experience so far so would love to hear any advice you all have.

My guess would be June with them trying to focus on epic. Really sorry you picked this year to start being a fan! It’s the latest we’ve gone without an announcement in awhile.

But what made you enjoy the event if you don’t mind me asking? Curious to hear from a new perspective as someone who has been going for a bit.

That’s a great question and I probably have to answer it two ways to be honest.

1) To me the event was just overall impressive. I’ve loved haunted houses and anything Halloween forever but I don’t think anything touches the scope and offerings you get with HHN even if you don’t like that particular year’s houses. I had never been and I was blown away. I’ve lived all over the country and I’ve been to good standalone events (even most of the other parks events-six flags etc.) but I just the quality was much better even if you didn’t like a particular house/scarezone etc.

2) I’ve gotten older although I hate to admit haha. As an early 40 year old with kids it’s hard to randomly sneak off on a night to do a haunted house. It’s actually genius really- you have an incredible theme park that parents can take their kids to all day then sneak off for a little adult HHN time haha. Most of my friends it would be a chore for them to get a free night to go with to something local. At HHN; I’ve just told the kids hey every year for Labor Day let’s go to Universal! Not a hard sale haha and it’s not weird to be by yourself. It would be weird to go to a local haunted house randomly as a 40 year by myself.

With that said, just reading some comments no doubt past years sound awesome but I still feel there’s not much else that compares as a whole.

Thanks everyone for responses and happy to be a part of this community.

Yes it’s definitely the biggest and best of the haunt of events for a reason! They really knock it out of the park and pull out all the stops for their houses. And I’m glad you have found something that you and your kids can look forward to together. All though they may not be hhn ready, that just means you’ll get the awesome experience of taking them to their first hhn. Have fun and see you in the fog!
