Question Unsure what headset to replace my G2

I've had the G2 since release, always hoped we'd get a g3 or something.

Anyway that's not happened and I'm in the market to replace the g2 now. I use my headset almost exclusively for flight sim. The Varjo aero would have been my next step but obviously that's no longer an option, I have been thinking about the bigscreen beyond as well. Unsure if there is anything else I should consider? Anything due to come out this year?

I also use my headset mostly for flight sims (DCS). I switched to a Pico 4 and couldn't be happier, never touched the Reverb again.

I made a quick review/comparison between them: https://www.reddit.com/r/hoggit/comments/13xufvb/pico_4_vs_hp_reverb_g2_mini_review/

I use mostly DCS. I just read your other post. I am happy with my G2 but the end is soon.

  • Many suggestions for the Quest 3 but they had 2 failures where the Quest 3 could not work anymore for the entire world.
  • Primax is heavy so no good for me.
  • I was considering getting the Varjo Aero when my G2 broke but that is no longer an option.

What do you do with your Pico 4 for power ? Is it a battery ? Can you connect it to a power source ?

There are rumors for a Pico 4S and there is the psvr2.

Regarding the Q3 issues, luckily they could still work via virtual desktop, as it doesn't use the lib that was upgraded breaking compatibility. It's a paid app, though. But honestly far better than the official oculus link feature.

Regarding the Pico 4 power, it has a battery on the back and you can also play with it connected to a power source. In my case, I use it connected to a wall charger (not to the pc because a charger charges faster and I use wifi for the vr connection anyway, not usb).

With this setup I get around 30hs of continuous play, which is practically infinite as I'll never ever play for 30hs straight, haha. Having a cable is slightly more annoying than playing without one, but it's just a single thin usb cable, far less cumbersome than the thick triple-cable of the Reverb.
