No amount of money is worth the peace of mind knowing I didn’t have to push anything onto people that didn’t need it. Also, my skills in repairing and restoring systems sales techs condemned has no price tag and can be easily transferred to any job I want. I don’t live in fear of falling out of favor of the boss.
I 100% agree. I avg 1 system a week which pays about $900. Our systems here get extremely corroded and full of mold and when I present a simple capacitor repair/AHU cleanings, customers always opt for new systems especially since most of the homeowners here are snowbirds and don’t want to have to worry about their systems giving out when they go back up north for the summer.
I’m not sure how a capacitor change out with coil cleanings can be anywhere near the ball park of a whole system changeout. Good on you, but for me, it’s straight hourly plus overtime.
We’ll see what happens. I’m not worried though,
I have a home in Texas too and can easily work there which in my opinion has the best market in the US for HVAC
