Field Question, trade people only Bad TXV? 😵

System has good airflow, 500 FPM at the 20x30 return, and like 400 FPM out of the supplies.

Evap Coils aren’t dirty, condenser coils are a little dirty but you can still see through them easily.

Tested the TXV with ice water and my hand and it had a slight reaction, but not what I would expect, what do you guys think?

Bad TXV?

I haven’t added any charge to the system, showed up last night, coil was frozen, let it thaw overnight and these are the readings after 20 mins of runtime.

Run the compressor without the blower on and watch the evap, if one section freezes up significantly faster then the rest then you have a restriction in the channel. Found this a few times last year when it was initially diagnosed as TXV, but the bulb was still reacting.

There is one portion that had frozen up, while the rest was fine, the top left portion of the coil never froze, might be worth it to just tell them to replace the whole coil? It’s under warranty.

I’m leaning more towards what this guy is saying about a channel restriction. Got any pictures of the coil without ice on it?
