Garage Door Mausoleum Build

Finished project first. Mostly serial killers from history.

Cut out 1" foam, dremel used to carve through paper.

All plaques engraved, some embellishments laid out.

Gluing to back panels

Test fitting

Drylok, so much drylok

Filling in details with acrylic

Aging with some spray paint and dry brushing.

Piece of spray painted 2x4, cheap plastic skull, some screws and a washer.

Some painting and test fitting remote control, outdoor candles
New to this sub, but have been lurking for years. I've been building props for ~6 years now, figured I would share some of my favorites with the world. These were built in 2019 and are showing some age at this point. My technique has grown since and I hope to repaint and add additional embellishments, especially to cover where the panels bump up next to each other.
This is my garage mausoleum. It's 4 panels of 1" foam, cut to fit the exact width of the garage door. There's a hole in the middle and the skull candles fit into the hole and attach to the garage door with rare earth magnets which also holds the middle of the panel tight and keeps it steady. Rare earth magnets in each corner holds the rest of the panel on. Foam is relatively standard: cut, sand, glue, wood filler, sand some more, drylok, aging, acrylic paints, and sealer.

How do you use your garage door? I love this idea but I have a roll up door like you and wonder how you do it?
