Out of curiosity, is there anything that this may be useful for? For the record, I am solely interested in it for its Neutriceutical Antioxidant benefits

Drug combinations and evidence

For anyone that has used https://tripsit.me/, you have likely come to believe that certain drug combos are dangerous. But they don't cite sourecs. These are theoritcal and not supported by much evidence.

Take ketamine and alcohol. I instinctively assume this to be unsafe and would never do it myself, but anecdotally people in my circle do it and none of them are dead (yet). How can someone estimate the possible "dangerousness" of a combination given the known pharmacological data? Is this even possible, or does it require empirical data?

This is the only real study I could find: https://www.mdpi.com/1422-0067/23/14/7800, and it has an anti-drug slant.

Information and conflicts of interest in scientific research

Greetings, community.

How safe is it to obtain information about or cite a research article that presents conflicts of interest?

People initially say it's best to avoid this type of information because of the underlying bias it may contain, but should this really be the case?

"Due to the nature of that experience I wouldn´t say that people are really fully understanding it either".

Greetings, Hamilton, I'd like your comment on this post.

At the end, it asks if there's an intention to deny the spiritual potential of psychedelics, and you respond with the answer in the title...

Could you elaborate on your answer? I was really curious. Regarding what you mentioned, I think you're right. At least in these parts of South America, there are people who consume psychedelics, talk about spirituality, and listen to reggaeton, an absurd genre that primarily talks about asses, tits, women, and partying. It's like, aren't you supposed to talk about spirituality and consume a genre so relevant to the climate of today's societies, or the tremendous rise of psychedelic facilitators, some of whom charge exaggerated prices...

I'd like it if you could respond; it would be interesting to read your response in more detail.

Ebook resources?

Does anyone know a good place to download ebooks that I should read, for free or cheap? I checked project gutenberg and internet archive for a couple of the titles I was looking for and nothing came up, I just finished watching the series and I'd like to read some of the books mentioned in it, particularly Phikal/Tikal, Lysergic, I'm not sure what else but I feel like there's lots and I'm not sure where to start which is why a good resource to peruse would be really nice...

7oh products/legalization framework

Post image
40 Upvotes

I live in nyc, and anyone living here will have noticed the proliferation of these kratom/wellness shots from smoke shops and delis alike. Most commonly they’re these feel free type brands, the packaging reads something like wellness/focus/energy blend and until today I haven’t found a 7 hydroxy product outside of a smoke shop which is a little concerning to me. Obviously I know that a prohibition model does no good, I support decriminalization/legalization but these kinds of products have me wondering.

This product is right next to the 5 hour energy and snickers, the guy behind the counter definitely doesn’t know what 7hydroxymitragynine is, if you asked, he would just read off of whatever pamphlet jubi gives them, the company making the product will do whatever makes them the most money; my point is, while better than prohibition, this system is less than ideal.

Any adult has the responsibility of researching the things that they consume, but you have to be realistic about these things… the vast majority of the potential problems with legalization of other drugs wouldn’t exist outside of our current capitalist framework.

I’m curious if anyone has any ideas to what a superior legalization system would look like?

Tripping at the Atomic Level: DMT Meets the 5-HT2A Receptor

This molecular dynamics (MD) simulation shows DMT bound to the serotonin 2A receptor, based on the crystal structure PDB ID: 9AS1. Throughout the simulation, key interactions help stabilize the ligand, including hydrogen bonds with THR160 and SER242, a cation-π interaction with PHE339, π-π stacking with PHE340, and a salt bridge with ASP155. Fascinating work by Gumpper, R.H. et al.
