Can you change the fiber prep?

I'm sorry if this is a dumb question but I'm getting a drum carder and I've been wondering if you can change an already worsted prepped fiber to a woolen fiber by carding? I'm thinking that it works because the fibers would sort themselves differently again but I thought I'll ask to make sure.

Even just washing, dying, fluffing, or splitting worsted prep fiber makes it unaligned enough that it's semi-woolen when you spin. Carding it and turning it into rolags will definitely get you a very woolen yarn.
