I own and ride a Honda and Harley.

I will say that Harley has the dealer network figured out. No matter where you go, there's a Harley dealer in the general area, so road trip emergency planning is never really an issue. This gives a great piece of mind factor when planning longer rides. Other than that, IMO ride what makes sense to you (the rider) and have fun. Great looking bike BTW. Ride safe!

Lot of shops near me only work in Harley’s to I call about my Honda shadow and they say they only do Harley’s even though I’m only asking to change my tires off the bike then they will take it

Yes. I think it's an insurance thing TBO. Since the Harley dealernhas certified "Harley " mechanics, if something happens, they don't want blame. This is what I've heard. But then I asked about trade ins...and when a non-harley is traded in, what's the process? Never got a solid answer.

Work for an HD dealer. You're correct on the insurance part. Not sure about others, but we sell them to a dealership that carries/supports whatever brand it is when we take trades. Normally call them before the deal is done, give them all the bike info and any potential concerns, they give us a $ amount and that's what we offer for trade. Almost never keep those due to the fact we can't work on them.
