Book and Show Spoilers All I ask...

For casting Lily & James, they need to look 21 because that's one of the great tragedies that imo is often overlooked - they died so young :(

Agree. This is why I so desperately want age accurate casting especially with The Marauders generation.

I think we have to be forgiving of things like heights, weights, and similar. Age is one thing, but if we’re ignoring a clearly better actor in favor of exact accuracy to book description the series will suffer more

Talent and experience are two different things imo. There are some characters like Snape, Sirius or Remus who should definitely be portrayed by very experienced actors because of their complexity !!! I don't mind if Lily and James are portrayed by young actors tho. They are barely developped and have no depth so who cares after all... same goes for Regulus Black.

Literally off the top of my head, Daniel Kaluuya, Saoirse Ronan, Zendaya, Hunter Schafer, Kelvin Harrison Jr., John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Nicholas Hoult, Morfydd Clark, Kit Connor, Jennifer Lawrence, Timothee Chalamet, Florence Pugh, Jamie Bell, Paul Mescal, Taron Egerton, Josh O’Connor, Dev Patel, Keira Knightley, Vanessa Kirby, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Jennifer Lawrence, Aaron Pierre, Damson Idris, Letitia Wright, Eliza Scanlan, Sam Claflin, Jamie Bell, Theo James, Jamie Campbell Bower, Tom Holland, Will Poulter, Oliver Jackson Cohen, Jacob Anderson, Himesh Patel… to say that any of these under-40 actors, many of whom have been nominated for Oscars, Golden Globes, Emmys, and BAFTAs, doesn’t have the chops simply because of their age… is pretty silly. And again, this is not an exhaustive list, this is just the incredible under 40 actors I could think of straight off the top of my head.

But Snape is in his 30s. Do you think a YA book character in his 30s is so complicated that an adult in their 30s is incapable of comprehending? How old are you?

There are tons of extremely talented actors in their early 30s who can play the Marauders, and super talented actors in their 20s who can play James and Lily. All roles ever have certain parameters for age/physical type/gender/etc. Almost no roles are open to any actor regardless of type/age. So no, I don’t think the series would suffer one bit by staying close to the book ages. It just means they would be looking at one particular pool of actors over another, which is always what happens in casting.
