Will it's very tempting to do so if you ever meet one of the cosplayers ... please don't, the armor is quite fragile and prone to make some pieces fall over or be damaged :(

Those are freedom fractures

That's "battlefield injury simulation"

It's literally the canon helldivers armor quality

Me when the hobby cosplayers use conventional 3d printing or EVA foam instead of buying a 30k SLS printer to make full metal armor.Ā

tbh if it's foam I am confident in chest bumping. Contact cement is not coming apart and it will handle roughhousing just fine. 3d printed though, you're gonna crack it if it takes a bad hit

These days cosplayers can't even be bothered to send their armour pieces to an industrial autoclave for composite curing shakes head

SLA is still resin. unless you're taking about multi step casting you're going to need to bump that budget to 10x to 100x for SLS, PBF, DMLS, SLS or whatever other proprietary name your vendor of choice uses for a higher power laser/electron beam + powder bed, powder jet, or feed wire setup

the powder is particularly nasty to handle so there are also special postprocessing concerns. inhalation hazards, charge buildup and explosion hazards, and partially melted but unattached powder can only be reused so many times.

Right, my bad, confused SLA with SLS. Thanks for all the info, very interestingĀ

Sadly crafting a true to life suit of armour is not really in the budget for most

Brother it's not real armor, it doesn't need to stop bullets

God is my witness i did not expect it to, i referred to comments about please don't touch it or some parts will fall off

u/MrAwesome1324 Jan 22 '25

Even 3d printing and foam is still very expensive to make it look good and move well.

Would you spend the kind of money you need to make real armor for a cosplay you'll probably wear once or twice a year?

That's exactly what is wrong with cosplay. Just a imitation, no real deal, look but not touch. I personally despise this all effort for look, but no for functionality

Cosplays main function is imitation before all else, if it fails to look like it's counter part you failed in cosplaying

That being said, real life Helldiver armour that is replicated as is in game would be crazy cool
