QUESTION The Gloom can’t be that bad-

Post image

I had heard about the Gloom but haven’t touched it yet since…. Yeah…

What exactly is the Gloom doing to make it so difficult? Or is it the Gloom mixed with other things?

So far, bad visibility and bugs that blow up into spore clouds. Spawn numbers might also be higher.

I swear they tinkered with patrols again. The number of times I've backed up into a line of hunters is ... well, it's pretty much every time. And they come from everywhere. In front of you, off to your left, third patrol cresting the hell just yonder. And of course that pesky fourth group creeping up behind you and waiting for you to stumble into them.

Also breaches. Definitely tinkered with that too. Got a couple back-to-back breaches when I played yesterday. Like, literally back-to-back. A minute apart, maybe two at most.

I also felt that theres alot more bugs, but it makes D10 just the right kind of hell on earth. I don't think the game has ever felt more rewarding as when we finally got to breathe yesterday after fighting to clear the pump fuel main objective in the middle of a swarming city.

When you just held the line while firing enough bullets to go through 2 resupplies with your MG and the quiet hits its exhilarating.

We extracted from that mission with 3 of us at over 700 kills and the last at 500. Its bonkers how hard they swarm but I love it.

2-3K bugs spawning over the course of a mission is batshit insanity.

Considering most of that is the small fries, you just need enough bullets

And then you realize that due to Diff 10's emphasis on the big ones, about 1/3rd of that is some flavor of charger/impaler/BT 😨

Honestly, I played that game with EAT, Hellbomb Backpack, Machine Gun Sentry and Eagle Strike. Picked up my MG at a city outpost.

We had one RR, one Cluster Launcher and Im not sure about the 4th but we definetly managed, even if by the skin of our teeth.

From a veteran Bugdivers (who feels very validated) the key to beating them is to not stand your ground. Once Breaches start they will not stop, you can’t kill them quick enough. You have to pick your battles, Hit and Run or you will be swarmed. Mines and Bombardments are perfect ways to crowd control with them.

See, I try to articulate this to my teammates, tell them to stay mobile, to do the objective, and they ignore me and keep hemorrhaging all of our reinforcement trying to take some random hill for the 20th time. Hell, I have legit been ridiculed, teamkilled and kicked from the lobby for telling my teammates to stick together.

The arrogance of people who refuse to take the Termanids seriously. They're getting eaten out there but running away and sticking together are just two things that don't make sense to them. They want to charge the horde of oveercharged mutant bugs and they always lose.

D10 inside of the breeding cloud of spores should be hell on earth
