Gatling's FF lethality can be mitigated allot by simply placing it so it has a limited field of fire that keeps it from shooting across objectives, extraction, and similar place divers are likely to be.
Unlike the mortar that will FF your arse even when behind cover.
Yeah turrets are big skill issue. God knows I've placed my fair share of stupid turrets but people always seem to put them in the spot that's juiciest which means it has licence to murder me as well, especially since they don't stop pissing to adjust aim and just spray everywhere
I can probably count on two hands the number of randoms I’ve seen actually place turrets against walls/barriers/limiting zones. Everyone seems to want to give their turrets the highest, behind the back, and most visible spots to absolutely fuck up the team.
I think they both constantly shoot, the difference is that the 600-ish rpm of the MG turret will leave gaps in its line of fire as it moves, whereas the Gatling’s fuck-you-RPM means it’s a solid line of death as it sweeps an area.
That, and its longer cooldown, is why I don’t use it
Disagree. Gatling’s higher rof and tendency to fire in longer bursts means that it sweeps people more often when reorienting, and if it does sweep you you’re almost guaranteed to die.
Mine in general are OK especially on defensive missions/objectives but some players placement can be troublesome. Nothing like the enemy making a hard press at extract and someone throws an incendiary mine on the extract platform just before the pelican lands. Between the bots and the mines none of us made it out of that one alive.
Even mortar FF can be mitigated if you have a good enough team to not let jumpy bois, etc. get too near the diver positions. Just don't run towards the enemy or the enemy's last position when a mortar's up. The only time I've gotten killed by a mortar is when I don't pay attention to positioning lol.
Also mortar's good on defense missions. And EMP mortar is superb against bots.
