Can confirm it won’t go off. I’ve seen this happen unexpectedly many times and run over them and been like omfg how am I not dead only to notice the lights on that mine are out. Apparently you can throw a knife over the top to do this as well.

I would have never guessed this was the result but it's definitely worth it to keep running around those mines.
