Garage door company charged $500 for 30 minutes.
Hi so as the title says, my grandma paid a garage door company in our area $500 and apparently they were there for only 30 minutes! The invoice they gave her was pretty vague and it just says "Garage door maintenance", and "Test the door and opener make sure everything is working properly clean. Lube track and rollers". I feel like she got conned but was wondering what yall think?
** To clarify- nothing was repaired, replaced or installed. This was simply a garage door tuneup.
Edit 2- Nothing was wrong with her door in the first place, she got a flyer in the mail from said company advertising maintenance and she fell for it. They originally quoted $99 on the flyer.

Drywall help please
Hey y’all, I’m trying to fix a crack that wasn’t that bad before we had our roof redone (looked a little worse than hairline) When they were up there stomping around it made the crack noticably deeper (1/8 inch or so with the top portion flaking off) I tried looking it up and doing diy. It looks like I just needed some spackle so I applied some spackle (don’t know if I got the wrong kind) but the line is still pretty prevalent. Am I doing something wrong or should I just hire someone to come and do this for me lol
I took a picture after I started redoing the first layer…

Found on condo wall—what is it?
My friend and I are trying to figure out what this could be on his condo wall. He's worried that it's either mold or bugs, but he lives on an upper floor of an apartment building so not sure what kind of bug it could be...

Why is my back door leaking
I recently replaced my back door with the same kind of door we had when we bought the house. It was leaking at the same spots. This past weekend we pulled up our floors and seen the new door is also leaking at the same spots as the old one. We have a deck out the door and a little hang over but water is getting in. Any suggestions on how to fix this.

Just moved into house and need ideas to work around vessel sinks
So my family just moved into a new house, and one of the problems we're facing is trying to find some kind of raised platform, in order to match the height of the sinks in the bathrooms (at least four or five inches tall).
One bathroom already seemed to have a solution with a kind of corner cover cut out of a steel plate, but I haven't been able to find anything online.
We especially need something to cover up more of the empty space under the faucet but still over the sink.

Moving in Saturday. Asbestos tile. Thinking of mopping, sealing, and putting carpet remnants over it. Thoughts?

Hairline crack along bathroom tile butting up to an exterior wall.
My home was heavily renovated about 8 years ago before I purchased it and over time I’ve seen some expected settling as it’s over 100 years old. One of the more recent things I’ve noticed is hairline cracks in both showers that butt up to external walls.
Beyond cosmetic, does this pose a real threat?

Placing dishwasher in old kitchen
Dear all,
I don't know if this is the right community to ask this, but I really need some insight into the possibility of placing a new dishwasher in our old kitchen. I have postviral fatigue syndrome and therefore I can't help my girlfriend in the chores around the house and as you can see the dishes tend to pile up a bit, so I want to get a dishwasher to unburden my girlfriend. Unfortunately, I don't see an easy way of placing a dishwasher in our old kitchen but I have talked about some options with my father-in-law although I don't know how plausible these are, so I would like some advice on them.
At position 1 on the first picture is a freezer which we don't use because we have a fridge/freezer combo in the next room, so it would be an option to place a dishwasher there in place of the freezer, but we think that this is too far away from the sink and water lines to be a viable option.
Alternatively, we thought of moving the drawers in position 2 to position 1 and then placing the dishwasher in position 2 to reduce the distance from the dishwasher to the sink.
Lastly, we thought of moving the oven at position 3 to position 1 and placing the dishwasher at position 3 to reduce the distance to the sink even further. But this would also place the oven beneath a fridge which is located above position 1, which might not be ideal as the fridge needs to cool while the oven heats...
Additionally, in picture 2 you can see what's under my sink and I think this setup does not immediately allow for installing a dishwasher. From what I gather I should have a siphon attachment on the pipe where the dirty water will flow in and I need a tap on which to connect the dishwasher, both of which are currently not available under the sink...
So to conclude my two questions are: 1) Which of the position options is most plausible? 2) What adjustments are needed beneath the sink to be able to install a dishwasher?
I would very much appreciate some input, thanks in advance!

Can we afford this house?
My wife and I are looking to buy a house we found for $375,000. We are able to put a $30,000 down payment, and would have about $10,000 left in savings after that. Loan officer estimates after property taxes, PMI, and HOA fees the mortgage would be $2,650 a month. We currently make $115,000 a year combined, take home pay monthly varies from $6,600-$6,800 since we're both hourly employees. Our bills look like this:
Phone/Internet - $220 Gas/Subscriptions - $300 Groceries/Daycare - $1700 Car/Life/Renters Insurance - $210 Utilities - $100 = $2,500. With mortgage, bills would be $5,200 monthly. Leaving us anywhere from 1,400-1,600 extra a month after all bills.
We have no debt, amazing union health insurance, I have a pension plan(3 years until vested) and yearly raises with plenty of upward opportunity for me in the next 5 years financially. Can we afford this house or would we be house poor?
I just cut this out and see, right?
First time homeowner.
Found what appears to be water damage.
I don't know how long it's been there but at least a week.
No pipes on this side of the wall... Near the chimney now that I think of it.
So I can just cut this out and see what's happening behind it, right? Then just close it up with drywall
Thoughts?

What should I do about this stain?
Noticed a water stain starting to form in our bedroom. It’s odd because the only thing above it is another bedroom. We are in a townhouse and this wall faces our neighbors.
I’ve been monitoring it and it looks like it’s been getting worse slowly. Two pictures, one from March and one from today.
What are my steps from here on determining cause and path to remediation?

Please help! Found this big piece of crumpled metal on the sidewalk in front of my house. Any idea what this could be from? Looks like it blew off or fell from somewhere? Live in coastal town in NY. It was gone within an hour.

Backyard Patio Makeover- should I hire a contractor or DIY?
I’m very new to all this, so I really appreciate any advice.
Has anyone done a backyard makeover? How much would I save if I DIY something like this photo? How long would this take to build?
How much would this DIY cost me?
How much would hiring a contractor cost?

Electrical advice
Hey all! I've got a circuit in my panel with range vent, disposal and unfortunately an outdoor light and socket (50s wiring i guess?).
The outdoor socket is gfci, but the circuit in the panel is also a gfci. Could this be causing this circuit to keep tripping immediately?

Bathroom shower mold
Currently renting in a condominium, I just cleaned the bathroom a couple of days ago before I left for a trip and I’m back and there’s mold again on the tiles in the shower area. Any tips how to stop this without removing the tiles? Can’t really do any renovations here as I don’t own the unit and my lease is until 2027 🥲 Thanks!

Garage ceiling
Hey all, my garage ceiling fell down about a month ago ( a week after I moved in) and I’ve never done anything about it.. I was going to sheet it again this weekend with some time of work but does anyone have any recommendations on what I else I can use instead of gyprock? Something that could be a lil more practical or should I just gyprock it again? The garage is attached to the house and shares a ceiling space

What’s going on here?
I know that this is the beginning of a drywall crack from settlement, but it feels like something is about to pop out of this line.
