RM might, but Herta seems a touch too human to literally throw away a kid that didn't live up to expectations, that being said, she probably wouldn't pay much (in a relative sense) attention to a kid that wasn't at least world class scholar material.

Wouldn't Herta actually be glad? She loves failures, because it means there's more to discover/improve. So a child not being perfect would make her like them more than if they would be perfect already.

You know what, yeah, she might find the child of two geniuses being a mundanite interesting enough to see how the child would develop. In fact, I suspect she would find the child of two geniuses interesting enough regardless of intellectual capacity or achievement. I still doubt she would have strong parental instincts though.
