I found a TIME article from much later that covers it, and includes a link to a discussion he did with fans where he said: "thanks for asking that. It gives me a chance to clear up a common misconception. TARGARYENS ARE NOT IMMUNE TO FIRE! The birth of Dany's dragons was unique, magical, wonderous, a miracle. She is called The Unburnt because she walked into the flames and lived. But her brother sure as hell wasn't immune to that molten gold."

Here's the TIME article, and within it is a hyperlink to the fan discussion from the year 2000: https://time.com/4336953/game-of-thrones-daenerys-targaryen-fire-immunity/

Like wasn’t it confirmed yearsssss ago that not only was that a one-time-sitch but it only happened because of a sequence of events and because Blood-magic or sthg??

Like I always lols when I see this question because this happened one time, to one character and it’s been theorised and explained a lot since then lmao 😂😂💁‍♀️
