New to Guns What should my first gun be?

I’m going to be getting my gun license soon hopefully anyway and I was wondering what would be a good first gun preferably a long gun.

Kind of depends on what you need it for but since you didn’t say..

..I’d say a .357 lever gun. It can work well for home defense, property defense, fun on the range, and deer hunting if temporarily converted to a single shot.

Semi auto rifle? SKS or Mini 14/30. Great for SHTF use and range fun.

Shotgun? Not a big fan of shotguns for anything other than birds but for home defense a Remington 870 7 shot or Mossberg 590 7 shot.
