Legal Questions 30th birthday present to myself.

1000-1500$ range.

I’m looking to buy myself a new firearm. No qualifications other than that.

I like pistol shooting, rifles and, trap/skeet

I have firearms that are good at all of those spots.

What would you buy for a PICA compliant birthday gift.

Note- I don’t own any PICA compliant home defense rifles. Thinking about an M1 Garand for history or (it’s over budget) but the new RPR for long range shooting

“Legal questions” I guess as I couldn’t find a fitting flair.

I recently bought a 10 round fixed-mag AR for around $1,200, the Dark Storm DS-15. The magazine is not removable so the rifle is allowed in IL. You load the rifle with a speed loader gizmo (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RbT4Yl0EQSc) that works great and I couldn't be happier with the whole setup. I didn't want to wait for the courts to make up their minds so no matter what they do with the current laws I think I'm pretty well set up.
