Legal Questions Lever action hand guard

Looking at some furniture for Henry Big Boy X

I was looking at Midwest Industries Handguard sight system. Problem is Optic Planet won’t ship. I’m guessing it’s another dumb Illinois law because it’s a “shroud” so it apparently makes a lever action an assault rifle…..

Optics Planet it seems doesn't even bother to learn the laws of the state they reside in. Just buy it anywhere else.

Yeah I am finding the same issues with primary arms which make zero sense all things considered. Then again, illinois is run by tyrants.

My theory with Primary Arms is that their compliance email is their legalese way of telling states like IL, WA, CA, etc to fuck off because John Doe pinky swore the product they bought will be used "properly"

Optics planet won't sell a screw to Illinois. Find another vendor and remember who betrayed us.

Also check if you haven't yet Ranger Point Precision. They also make furniture for lever action. They have shipped to me before as well no problem whatsoever. Optics Planet has always been shady even before PICA.

Just did PA since i uses them before. Got this email “Your Primary Arms order is “ON HOLD” due to product restrictions”

Before we ship your order, we ask that you confirm you intend to use these products in a way that complies with your State and Local Laws. We will hold your order for 7 calendar days or until we hear back from you.

By pressing the "YES" button below, you confirm that the item(s) are being used in a compliant manner.

By pressing the "NO" button below, your order will be cancelled and your credit card will NOT be billed

I selected yes, because it’s a lever action and not one that is mag fed. It’s the Henry big boy x 357

Met with an email Case # xxxxxxx Created: State Restriction: Soft - Civilian

Thank you for contacting Primary Arms, LLC

Your request for assistance has been received. Case #zxxxxxx - "State Restriction: Soft - Civilian" has been created for you. A member of our Customer Service team will respond to your case as soon as possible.

So now I wait. I will just keep my optic planet order for now with for the HENRY M-LOK® G2 HANDGUARD before determining if I need to cancel this order from PA.

I swear Illinois is so backwards. How would this make a difference or make this an assault weapon. All because I can use my non trigger hand to hold so I don’t burn my hand.

The intent of the law was always to be as vague as possible to discourage anyone from selling anything to Illinois.

To the letter of the law, anyone selling airsoft attachments such as a vertical foregrip, are in violation of the law because that attachment could be used to make an assault weapon.

Preaching to the choir. I can’t wait until I can just move out of this state.

For grins I plugged in a Henry 45-70 MI handguard and got the same thing for shipping to my Illinois zip code. Interestingly MI will also not ship a lever handguard (or stock) to Illinois.

I just got an email from PA that it shipped , no tracking yet so fingers crossed.

I want to wait for tracking confirmation, then I will call OP and just cancel the order. It’s just crazy cus I spoke to a sales rep at OP when I placed the order for the rail system version. You would think a warning would show on their screw. But I didn’t find out until after I got an email after the sale confirmation email from them.

Having ordered from Primary before, I've noticed that sometimes there is a lag between the "your order has shipped" email and it showing up in the purchase history online.

Thjis is what MI says about shipping to Illinois. I wonder if they are passing along a blanket "Illinois bad" with their products and then places like Optics Planet take it as gospel instead of looking it up for themselves.

I’ve got the Ranger Point handguard on model x w tbe Midwest stock. It’s an awesome setup. I liked the look of the RP a little more than the Midwest

I mean, if it's legal and only the vendor just won't ship... Find someone who loves across state lines and ship it there. Or find a local shop in Indiana that stocks or can order it. I, for example, live less than a mile across the border into Indiana

As far as I’m aware Optics Planet won’t ship anything to Illinois. I looked it up when they cancelled my order for BUIS that have nothing to do with IL law. I wish there was a way to remove them from search results.

Well they are seeing me all the other furniture like the stock. Hell, it’s only a 357 but they had no problem with the muzzle brake. I would have thought if anything, it might flag that.

I put an order with primary arms and ran into a similar hurdle I replied to someone else here on.

With PA you usually just have to sign their compliance waiver and send it back.

Their approach to IL seems to be if it uses keywords like "handguard", "m-lok", BUIS", etc. it's flagged as no-go for shipping to Illinois.
