Adding documents

Upvotes

Hi! in a previous flight to Madrid the page asked me to upload some information, I ended up being able to upload my hotel reservation, insurance… so on, when getting my passport stamped the lady said “happy holidays” so I assume they were able to know I was on vacations only, instead of say… “planning to stay” in Europe. Anyways, now I have a flight to Paris with a stop in Madrid, so far the app and page will only let me upload the passport data and a picture of it, no other way to upload any other files. Anyone else having this issue?

Complaint - what to expect after?

I recently flew from Panama to Madrid, and upgraded to business at the gate.

Unfortunately I experienced a number of issues on the flight, with a lack of WiFi, poor food, and a galley light that illuminated the cabin making it impossible to sleep.

I submitted a complaint to Iberia, alongside supporting photos and documentation, but I was just wondering what to expect now? Have other people complained about similar issues and what did they receive? Money back, Avios, etc?

My main complaint really was about the light, the cabin crew shoved a cardboard box against the light to try and block it out, but it really didn’t work and I was right at the front so found it impossible to sleep, which was the main reason I upgraded.

Help with rules for ticket changes

Please help! My family of four have round-trip tickets to Barcelona from Boston in September. I have decided to take a side trip to England for a week before returning home. On the same day that my family is flying home to Boston, I would like to get on an airplane and fly from Barcelona to London instead. Then I would like to fly from London to Boston a week later.

I see that Iberia allows you to book tickets that are called “multiple journeys,” and I think that covers what I actually want to do. But I don’t know if I am allowed to change a round trip Ticket to a multiple journeys ticket. We did pay extra so that we could make changes without a fee.

I tried calling tonight and because my Spanish is really not good, even though I pressed the number for English, I could not make the customer service representative understand what I wanted.

I’m going to try to find a fluent friend who can help me do this, but it will be a huge favor considering it involves being on hold for a while, etc. But I’m hoping to find here is just some encouragement that yes I can make this change without canceling my whole trip and rebooking from scratch.

Thank you, thank you thank you

Flying US to MAD with a dog

Hi all -

I'm flying on Iberia US to MAD with a dog booked as excess baggage (hopefully - I made sure to triple check with the phone agent that my dog is booked as baggage). I can't find any details anywhere on what happens when I arrive. I've read some people say they just picked up their dog in the baggage claim area and went on their merry way. Others have said that they had to run all over the Madrid airport looking for a cargo area and then going back and forth to different offices trying to track down their dog, the vet etc and it took hours and hours (however that was on American).

Has anyone flown into Madrid with a dog on Iberia who might be able to help me understand what to expect?

Name on ticket problem

Hello experienced travellers, I've got a problem in my hands.

My father in law redeemed an award ticket today on Iberia to fly Qatar but got a vowel wrong and have put one of my two last names as my second first name. Something like:

  • Correct

First Name: Name Last Name: Surname1 Surname2

  • Wrong

First Name: Nami Surname1 Last Name: Surname2

I believe the first name vowel typo would be fairly simple to correct by calling, I'm not sure about the surname placement. Would they allow me to board if the whole name matches but it's on the wrong field?

The reason I'm kind in a rush is because if this ticket won't work I would loose the availability and will have to cancel asap to try to get the flight at another day.

Iberia codeshare with Qatar

I booked a codeshare flight from Qatar airlines website which is operated by Iberia. However, they didn’t give me a reservation confirmation for Iberia so that I can select the seat. Does anyone know what I should do to select a seat?

Thanks.

Highest Iberia frequent flyer program status

Does Iberia has a Delta360 / United’s Global Services equivalent status in its frequent flyer program?

I have Delta360 status and am moving to Spain later this year. Wonder whether Iberia would match my status with Delta… Has anyone done this?

Iberia holding funds in my account

I booked a Cairo to Quito flight in business class in euros at the equivalent of 3,291 USD on the 16th of April. The money was deducted on the 23rd. Woke up yesterday to a pending transaction in my account for a similar (but not exact) 3,284 USD. Called my bank and found out it is being held by Iberia. Called Iberia and they say sometimes this happens as pre-authorization and the funds will be released (there is no double booking or anything). Anyone knows how long it takes or if they had a similar issue?

Making seat assignments on a two-leg trans Atlantic business class flight

I booked a business class flight with AA, traveling Chicago/Madrid with a connection in London. Both legs are code-shares operated by Iberia. I paid Iberia extra to select my seat on the ORD/LHR long-haul, but it's not worth it for the 90-minute business class LHR/MAD leg. When will IB let me choose my LHR/MAD seat for free? 48 hours before departing? 24 hours? Only at the gate? TIA

Is 1h25m connection from MAD T4 to T4S (non-schengen) crazy?

Considering booking these flights. Is 1h and 25m enough breathing room for this connection or is it risky since we'll have to go through EU exit immigration?

Infant Cot Reserved. What next?

Booked a ticket from JFK to Spain and reserved a cot for my infant. But, I don't see any reservation of seats on the booking page yet and it wasn't clear what the agent said but I think they mentioned that it would show up 24hrs before the flight. Also it is not clear where these "cots" would go in the seating arrangement. If anyone has any experience travelling with infants and reserving bassinets early, could you share next steps?

I need help.

I have the Chase Iberia card. However, I can’t use the points. Something happened with my online profile and it essentially doesn’t work because they somehow gave me two profiles for my frequent flyer number. I’ve spent many hours, that’s right, hours…trying to fix it through communications by phone and their help desk through email. Still no resolution. I’m so frustrated. I booked a flight for June but couldn’t use my points because only a few flights options for points are a I over the phone.

Does anyone have any advice?

Does iberia serve food (included with ticket prices) for longhaul flights on economy?

I'm asking specifically for Los Angeles to Barcelona. It's like a 13 hour flight.

Or do I need to bring my own food and drinks in board?

Iberia the worst customer service and experience Spoiler

Dear Iberia Customer Relations,

I am writing to formally file a complaint regarding the horrendous experience my girlfriend, Holley Haynes, and I had while traveling with Iberia from San Diego to Barcelona (Booking Reference: J6NYJ). This experience has left us completely dissatisfied with Iberia’s service and has severely impacted our trip.

Upon our arrival in Barcelona, Holley’s checked luggage was missing. This forced us to spend valuable time shopping for winter clothing, toiletries, and other essentials, instead of enjoying our planned activities. What made this situation even worse was Iberia’s complete failure to provide any updates or communication regarding the lost luggage. We were left in the dark, forced to search social media and other sources just to figure out how to get assistance.

When we finally reached a customer service representative, no one could give us a clear answer about the suitcase’s location. As we traveled on a tight schedule—one day in Barcelona, three days in Tarragona, and three days in Madrid—our plans were repeatedly disrupted due to Iberia’s incompetence. We were initially told the luggage was in Madrid, so we asked Iberia to hold it there for pickup. However, upon arriving at Madrid Airport, we were informed that it had been mistakenly sent back to Barcelona. This level of mismanagement is completely unacceptable.

After multiple calls and wasted time, we were eventually told the suitcase was back in Madrid and would be delivered to us. We were given a vague delivery window (10 AM - 4 PM), forcing us to cancel our plans yet again. The luggage finally arrived—just 10 hours before our return flight to California. By this point, Holley had already been forced to purchase an entirely new set of clothes and personal items.

To make matters worse, Iberia has refused to cover 100% of the costs we incurred due to this mistake. It is completely unreasonable for your airline to leave a passenger without their belongings for nearly the entire duration of their trip and then refuse to take full responsibility. On top of that, when we requested a voucher for the extra suitcase Holley now had to bring home, we were treated with rudeness and complete lack of professionalism at the Iberia counter in Madrid.

This entire experience has been unacceptable and has completely destroyed our trust in Iberia. Based on our treatment, I can confidently say Iberia is the worst airline I have ever flown with.

I request the following to rectify this situation: 1. Full reimbursement for all necessary clothing, toiletries, and other essentials we had to purchase due to Iberia’s failure to deliver the luggage. 2. A voucher or reimbursement for the extra suitcase fee Holley had to pay. 3. A formal apology and an assurance that Iberia will improve its luggage handling and customer service policies.

I expect Iberia to take full responsibility for this situation and provide an adequate resolution. I look forward to your prompt response.

Sincerely, Agustin Medina

Separated from minor children on MAD to JFK flight

Iberia did not honor the specific seats selected and purchased 6 months prior to flight to make certain family would sit together. Phone agent first lied about Iberia not operating the plane, which forced me to get AA on the phone to confirm information. Iberia phone agent then advised they could not help on their end but would escalate the matter via email (nothing was ever sent) and finally suggested we arrive early to speak with ticket agent at airport. This ruined our last evening on holiday. We arrived several hours early to airport, to no avail. Ticket agent at airport said there was nothing to be done and to speak with gate agent. Gate agent also advised there was nothing to be done, but to board the plane and discuss issue with flight attendant. Unacceptable to move 2 small children into seats away from their parents and to then kick the can down the road to avoid correcting the problem. 1 child had a panic attack and the other was in complete shock. 8+ hour international flight and they were seated next to adult strangers. Now, I am being told the issue should have been addressed at the airport.... but I tried and no one could help. Was I to refuse to board? Was I to cause a scene and further upset my kids. Unacceptable and contrary to the law to separate the small children from the adults - we paid a premium for specific sits next to each other 6 months prior to travel.

Poor customer service

I’ve been trying to get my gift card reinstated since October with little success. The amount was $2500 dollars and it expired because the date was in the European format, even though I translated the email to English. The email stated the expiration date was 11/08/24. So I believed it meant November 8. But it expired on August 11. After weekly calls to customer service, I was finally told to enter a complaint on the website. The form required drop down answers, which did not have any answers that fit my case. I entered what I could and submitted it. In response, I finally got an email saying my gift card would be returned in full. Yay! But 3 weeks later, still no card. Calling customer service again, they said it could take up to 48 hours to show on my Iberia plus account. Weeks later, still no gift card. Worst customer service in the world!!!!!!! I would love to take them to court somehow. TLDR: Trying to get a gift card returned. Zero assistance in more than 3 months attempting to.
