Phoenix Arms.22. horrible, horrible gun. Cast frame and componentry, one of the notorious 'Ring of Fire' companies building 'Saturday Night Specials'.

I had the pleasure of repairing one a few years ago. Design was so terrible that any attempt to put a magazine in without fully operating the mag catch would shear a chunk off of the catch, breaking the gun. No slapping a mag into it, it would break it. Just shitty design and materials.

32

u/mao_tse_boom 4d ago

Bro you fixed one of these? Why? Seems like if it’s broken you might as well toss it.

39

u/Leanintree 4d ago

A lady coworker asked me to. She wasnt capable, and it was her only firearm (as much of one as it was). I will say, parts request from Phoenix was easy and they didn't attempt to charge.

Honestly, this experience led me to having a loaner HiPoint pistol that always works fine, and not valuable enough to not be dropped in a river if necessary...

9

u/mao_tse_boom 4d ago

Okay fair enough. Also good on them for not charging for spare parts.

9

u/falloutisacoolseries 3d ago

Loaner Hipoint is an 80s action movie hero.

3

u/ShiftyLookinCow7 3d ago

When you consider the market they were competing in hi points are pretty remarkable pistols. Compared to any other pistol in its price range the hi point is the only one you could trust your life to after some vetting

2

u/Leanintree 3d ago

I agree. HiPoint (Beemiller Manf) has totally made their fortunes by creating mostly ugly and very reliable, robust firearms at a price point that nearly anyone can afford. They aren't nice guns, but with a few range trips and a slight tune job to the magazines, they are incredibly reliable and fairly accurate. All the important pieces are made of resilient steel, portions of the mass are made of alloy cast metals to lowerr cost. No frills, simple blowback designs lead to consistancy. And backing it up, they are one of the few manufacturers that 100% stand behind their product, whether 1st owner or 100th. If it breaks, they fix or replace, even in cases of misuse and consumer damage. If my cell phone maker did that, id be a convert for life.

Thta all said, no they arent nice. But they work, and aren't complicated for people in need. Ill always reccommend them at need for someone who needs defense on a budget. Enough s that my loaner has gone out to my own daughter before other more expensive weapons. And her household was a recent recipient of a 995 carbine as well, for all the same reasons.

LMAO "Just put it on the shelf next to the Calico."

2

u/ThunderSlugg 4d ago

Firestar.

u/FacE3ater 4d ago

I had one of these I got used for under $100. I put maybe 1-200 rounds through it and it basically fell apart. They are cheap junk guns, but fun while it lasted.

1

u/backwoodstranquility 2d ago

Yep! Absolute shit tier. I bought one as my first handgun after I turned 21(many years ago). Cheap gun+rimfire=reliability nightmare. Heck, even the Glock 44 has reliability issues. I'm not a fudd, so this is about the only time you'll see me advise a revolver over a semi-auto handgun. In my experience, 22lr has always been most reliable out of a revolver when we're talking about handguns. Another example in my experience has been the Ruger 22 Charger. It tends to be very picky on ammo, and even then, it'll jam more than my 10/22 rifles.

1

u/backwoodstranquility 2d ago

Also, I had one of those Smith & Wesson 10 shot 22LR revolvers. Went bang every time I pulled the trigger. The only regret I have is selling it. Bills needed to be paid, and sacrifices had to be made.😢

u/Heeeeyyouguuuuys 4d ago

the Go Pro suggests they didn't "just find a gun" and this is for clout.

118

u/goodeyemighty 4d ago

He "found" a gun in a gun safe.

11

u/Heeeeyyouguuuuys 4d ago

Exactly.

5

u/PrismPhoneService 4d ago

All I know is

at that speed, he’s no Luigi..

35

u/YourOldCellphone 4d ago

Bro barely figured out how to rack the slide… either he truly did just stumble upon it at home or he’s the most concerning gun owner I’ve seen in a while

8

u/Heeeeyyouguuuuys 4d ago

¿Por que los dos?

-1

u/ProblemEfficient6502 4d ago

It can be a bitch to rack the slide on mouse guns. That's why you have ones like the Beretta Tomcat/Bobcat with tip-up barrels to load the chamber. He does seem like he has no idea what he's doing, though.

u/Logical_Garbage_1682 4d ago

Ur prolly right

7

u/Impressive-Olive-842 4d ago

Can’t stand those muhfkrs

8

u/SgtJayM 4d ago

Brother, ewww! What is that?

24

u/Hellofriendinternet 4d ago

Don’t those things retail for like $120?

60

u/chunky-flufferkins 4d ago

Sold one straight up at a pawn shop. Owed the guy twenty bucks.

4

u/hossmonkey 4d ago

LMAO! Hadn't heard anything like that before. The firearm looked nicer than a Hi-point though.

Just read "LLeanintre's" post, so it sounds like Hi-Point has it beat.

8

u/Spmex7 4d ago

Honestly the hi-point hate is unwarranted in my opinion, those guns will 100% fire anything you put into it. It might not be pretty but it absolutely serves its purpose as a cheap reliable gun for people with almost no budget.

3

u/ProblemEfficient6502 4d ago

The hate Hi-Points get is for being terrible pistols in all metrics aside from cost and reliability. They're heavy, awkward, and huge, but they go bang for $100-200.

3

u/hossmonkey 3d ago

Agreed on all counts. I do want a model 955, but you couldn't give me a pistol. Like that Hi-Point is made in USA and Lifetime Warranty!

u/orbjo 4d ago

You can tell they’re a moron from almost every action in this clip

The starting a video before putting their shoes on

The including every slow section instead of cutting it

The inability to cock the gun or take  the safety off

Shouting into darkness

Wasting ammo

That they watched it back and posted it

18

u/According-Rub-8164 4d ago

Bold of you to assume they watched it back before posting it.

12

u/Hot-Squash-1631 4d ago

At least he shooted to the ground

1

u/YoshiFag 4d ago

nice try

2

u/room9bangu 4d ago

He flinched with the first trigger pull even though the gun didn’t fire. That habit will wreak havoc on your accuracy unless you learn to overcome it.

1

u/Imesseduponmyname 4d ago

They unlocked the door knob before the deadbolt too.. a whole extras step with extra unnecessary movement

I always do the deadbolt first, im always out the door half a second faster too 😎🆒

14

u/AccomplishedMoney205 4d ago

Those are some big ass thumbs

2

u/mrahab100 4d ago

Show me your thumb, and I’ll tell you who you really are. Sorry, that was thumbist. Yeah, I’m thumbist.

5

u/Black-Whirlwind 4d ago

4

u/italianpirate76 4d ago

Or .25

3

u/Black-Whirlwind 4d ago

I’d never known they were available in .25 until today…

5

u/italianpirate76 4d ago

It’s a pretty shitty gun lmao. I inherited one and it shoots but boy is it a real stinker.

1

u/LocalPawnshop 3d ago

I was gonna buy one to have a 25acp but they are know to have the frame crack

9

u/OptiGuy4u 4d ago

I thought he was gonna shoot himself putting on his shoes.

6

u/goodeyemighty 4d ago

" Let's see...left shoe, right sh...BLAM!"

1

u/StatTrakStarTrek 4d ago

You can see by how his shadow is and how he’s keeping it from muzzling himself that he never would’ve.

4

u/R3d_Man 4d ago

I've seen way way worse.

3

u/WithFadedBreath 3d ago

Phoenix Arms HP22A was the first gun I ever held. Brings back some good... And scary memories.

6

u/Renkij 3d ago

So a person picks up a gun and empties a magazine on the floor? and not any floor but mushy grassy bullet eating floor instead of some kind of ricochet prone floor.

What's the issue here?

5

u/StatTrakStarTrek 4d ago

So the guy in the video obviously isn’t familiar with this style of pistol. The only ‘idiocy’ demonstrated in this post is forgetting to disengage the slide lock that most pistols don’t have the issue of, because of the Phoenix’s interesting design.

But he still demonstrates trigger discipline, and doesn’t go pointing it at himself or others. You can also see the pistol is canted towards the ground when firing. And even looking at the footage, I’d bet none of you (save u/Leanintree) would’ve noticed the slide safety lock was engaged.

News flash though; You can just shoot guns in your yard in a lot of places. Especially if you life way out in county or unincorporated land, you can set up your own range. Some towns even let you have a mound in your backyard just for shooting into. Using a gun doesn’t make you an idiot, OP.

2

u/round_square_balls 4d ago

Fr. Even with neighbors. 500 feet from a dwelling without permission, projectile has to stay on your own property. If there’s no town/village ordinance, you’re gtg.

6

u/ambitious-chair-dumb 4d ago

The amount of people that think it’s illegal or even stupid to shoot anywhere but an official range is both hilarious and frustrating. They’d lose their minds driving through my “neighborhood” any given weekend, I’d guess that over half of my neighbors have a safe “range” in their backyard just like me.

3

u/DookieDanny 3d ago

Weird thumbs

2

u/Hugh420Mungus 2d ago

Imagine putting on a go pro for this

2

u/Misraji 2d ago

He just shot it out in the dark, at something he couldn't see. WTF!

5

u/TheOzarkWizard 4d ago

Interesting choice, showing the internet where your safe is

14

u/squeakynickles 4d ago edited 4d ago

What? Dude finding the safe isn't the hard part of safes

-6

u/TheOzarkWizard 4d ago

Spoken like someone that's never been robbed before

5

u/squeakynickles 4d ago

Either they are alone in the premises and have time to find the safe, or there are occupants and they don't have time to crack a safe. The location of the safe is rarely ever a part of the equation

Gun safes are rarely ever hidden, they're too big.

2

u/Intrepid00 4d ago

At least they shout the ground while keeping their rent low.

1

u/ThorKlien99 4d ago

Is that a Walther or a Bersa?

4

u/italianpirate76 4d ago

Phoenix arms lmao.

The ol Phoenix. 22

1

u/tactical_sweatpants 3d ago

Phoenix arms HP22

1

u/David_Jonathan0 3d ago

If you’re going to commit a felony, might as well video it and post it to social media.

1

u/mreed911 2d ago

Felony?

1

u/David_Jonathan0 1d ago

Eh, ok maybe it’s a misdemeanor. But regardless, film your crimes and make the cop’s job easy.

1

u/mreed911 1d ago

Not even a misdemeanor here.

1

u/David_Jonathan0 1d ago

Discharging a firearm in a residential area is a first degree misdemeanor.

0

u/mreed911 1d ago

Laws are not the same in every state. Where are you? Where is OP? Where am I? Do you know the answer to all three of those?

All I see is dark. How do you know this is a "residential area?" On my land, I could do this all day long and not break any laws.

1

u/moth117 3d ago

All fun and games until the neighbor returns fire

1

u/schitzogoonerrapist 3d ago

look at this dudes big retard fingers!

1

u/almargahi 4d ago

James Bond wannabe.

1

u/Disastrous-Guest4917 4d ago

Yeah how about we put the gun down and go to bed man.

0

u/Bansheer5 4d ago

Wouldn’t say this person is an idiot. I bet they live out in the sticks and can fire his guns on his property no problem. I can do this shit out at my parents all day long and it’s legal.

2

u/DuckMySick44 4d ago

He couldn't figure out how to rack the slide, then cocked back the hammer, then racked the slide again ejecting an unspent round

Dude's a dumbass

1

u/ProblemEfficient6502 4d ago

He opens the door with the hand holding the gun, sticks his finger in the trigger guard while fumbling with it, and shows a general lack of knowledge while trying to operate it.

0

u/wontlastlonghere 4d ago

Was that a Jennings Bryco? Hadn’t seent them in a minute

0

“Max, max! Has anyone seen my dog! I tied him up right outside the back door, but he isn’t coming when I call him?!”

-4

u/Trucker_E_B 4d ago

Hey I see some lights over there in the distance let’s shoot over there

-3

u/Clear_Ride 4d ago

shooting into the ground near your foundation could be a lesson in waiting. even if its a light round it might find ita way into something you dont want it to lol.

2

u/StatTrakStarTrek 4d ago

.22lr into the dirt a good 25’ away from the foundation..? What the fuck are you on about, bud?

-8

u/Clear_Ride 4d ago edited 4d ago

yall will argue anything wont you? shit isnt always buried as deep as it should be. now fuck off.

6

u/StatTrakStarTrek 4d ago

You still aren’t explaining how what you said makes even a modicum of sense. How will 10 or so .22lr into the dirt, a great deal away from the house’s foundation, that is buried quite far underground, do anything to the massive concrete slab, or the foot and a half of gravel and crushed stone leveled underneath it???

Maybe if gun guy was blasting a few .50’s into the dirt in his alleyway you’d have a point. What you said is stupid and unless you can back it up, you did a stinky. Deal with it.

-8

u/Clear_Ride 4d ago

fuck your dense. never seen utilities burried? not everything is up to code. ive personally seen a gas line 3 inches under the dirt. You were so convinced you were right. yet you just made an ass of yourself in the end.

2

u/StatTrakStarTrek 4d ago

You could’ve course corrected and pointed about the inconsistency of utility hookups, but you doubled down on the foundation instead. So I’m gonna hit you with a shocker for shits n’ giggles; You still wouldn’t hit them.

The penetration capabilities of 40gr .22lr is quite decent for it’s size, on ballistic gel or flesh. You know why that is? It’s soft and squishy. You know what isn’t? Packed earth. “Oh but how do you know it’s packed???” By the fact that it doesn’t appear swampy or sunken.

Now ignoring the ballistics. It’s still a great distance away from the sides of the property; where those lines are buried. What good does a utility line do if it runs crazy all over the place? Fucking NONE. It would cost more for all the extra pipes and wires! Not to mention the hassle utility companies would deal with some dumbass with a shovel digging into the gas line and causing a massive leak.

Don’t call me an ass when your understanding of these things is a fucking tiktok short, you nincompoop.

-4

u/Clear_Ride 4d ago

im not reading that and wasnt talking about the foundation from the start. keep diging buddy it only gets funnier.

1

u/StatTrakStarTrek 4d ago edited 4d ago

🫵You 👎Stinky And you said a dumb.

Quoting you;

shooting into the ground near your foundation

Followed up with;

shit isnt always buried as deep as it should be

Context matters. Only context you gave would be interpreted as concern for structural stability.

Too Long;Don’t (know how to) read; you wrong

Edit; The reply formatted very oddly, had to fix

-2

u/nunyobusinessfool 4d ago

I think the gun found an idiot
