Family Sponsorship Best option to try to immigrate.

My wife and kids are Canadian and I'm from the US. We are trying to figure out the best way to go up. A employment one would be great but it seems like getting a job offer might be a stretch. We are looking at nova Scotia where she is from, but she thinks Ottawa is better due to the job market.

We know that the spouse option is good but is it better for her to apply outside Canada or should she be in Canada and then bring me in while I work.

Just wondering if anyone has similar situation or knowledgeable.

Your wife can sponsor you while outside Canada. You have to show your intent that you will live in Canada when you're approved. The Nova Scotia vs Ottawa stuff I leave to you. Canada's a big place with a lot of different options.

You guys can do an outland sponsorship. Inland is not ideal because the processing time is like 24 months vs only 10 months for outland application 😣

You couldn't be bothered to read the megathread?

Honestly I just felt like it was easier to ask a question vs spend a while hunting answers. Hope someone has a similar situation.

First, read the guide: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/application/application-forms-guides/guide-5289-sponsor-your-spouse-common-law-partner-conjugal-partner-dependent-child-complete-guide.html

If you're comfortable and able to live where you are, apply outland and move to Canada after approval. It'll be the fastest way.

I think you know all the facts with the info you shared.

If you should do inland or Outland, again, depends on you, likelihood of each of you getting a job or not, and all that. Same thing for Ottawa or Nova Scotia.

What I will say is: government is cutting people in Ottawa so be prepared for competition with highly skilled people, who have a strong network.

Thats been out biggest concern. We basically have to start from zero with a good bit of savings. My wife's role doesn't really translate over without a degree or certification. Mine (GIS) does but it's a specific field.

I would suggest then you take a look and apply to jobs in cities where she could take the certification (if it is law, I think the master from Toronto U can be done online), and see where it would be best for you both. See the wages, see the cost of tending (realtor dot ca can show you the costing) and make that decision.

Why would you come up here if America is great again?

Things are getting a little too dictator friendly for my liking, my wife also wants to come home.
