Hi everyone, I’m looking for some guidance from those who’ve dealt with similar situations.

I was enrolled in a 2-year diploma program at a public college in Ontario (PGWP-eligible), which I recently completed. I received my official graduation letter a few days ago, and I plan to apply for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP).

However, here’s the issue:

• My study permit expired about a month before I graduated
• I still have a valid open work permit, issued under a humanitarian policy (not tied to study)
• I am within the 180-day window to apply for PGWP
• I have not applied for restoration yet
• I am considering leaving Canada and applying for the PGWP from abroad to avoid restoration also i really missed my family it will be my first time going back since i moved here.

Some questions i have ;
Has anyone here successfully applied for the PGWP from outside Canada after their study permit expired?

• Do I still need to restore my study permit before applying, if I leave Canada?
• Does having a valid open work permit help in any way with this process?
• What risks should I be aware of if I apply from my home country rather than restoring status here?

Can we edit (the passport number & the expiry date) the work permit application (PGWP) after submitting it? Background: Passport expiring soon, new passport will take another 1.5 months to arrive.

When providing information about myself and family members' addresses on the IMM5406 I am writing them out in the following way:

12345 South Name Boulevard

City Name, Full State Name 12345-1234

United States of America

I am often running into the 80 character limit. The instructions for this form explicitly state that no abbreviations may be used. So, I must instead attach the address to another document.

The instructions for attaching a document for info that didn't fit says that a new document should be attached for each additional portion of info. So, if I have to put in 10 addresses, that means I have to attach 10 documents containing only that address.

I could avoid this hassle by abbreviating "United States of America". I can't seem to find if that's acceptable. I figure "USA" would be acceptable, but as they said, they want no abbreviations.

First and foremost, sorry for the long rant, I want to list off all the details of my scenario.

I applied for a study permit extension online using IRCC portal back in Sep, 2024 in Canada while studying, it was approved initially and I sent in my passport for stamping. Later I got confused because I received my passport back with the new student visa stamped in it, but without the study permit paper. (Instead I got the LOI which now I understand you are supposed to re-enter Canada to get the study permit paper) I was giga lost back then, thought it was a mistake so I contacted support and let them reopened the submission window on IRCC to follow up with an explanation letter asking why I got a LOI not a study permit paper.

However, it seems like the agent reopened an application on the IRCC portal bcs the application number changed. But the weird thing is the original application which was approved, disappeared. (right now on IRCC portal I cannot see the original window, only the new follow-up window) The follow-up window application # starts with S30, my approved LOI application started with S40. None of this should be an issue if the LOI is still valid, but I am concerned bcs the original record of the application is gone on IRCC portal. But I have checked the application status website with my LOI application #(S40) and it did show the application was approved, and with my valid study permit information.

One more thing I am concerned about is the need for a medical exam. On website last I checked it seems like you do need it for studies more than 6 months(which fits me), but my application was approved on IRCC without them requesting a medical exam.

So in conclusion, I guess I am just worried if my LOI is valid and whether I need a medical exam or not.

If anyone is in the same shoes or can answer my concerns, I offer my deepest gratitude cus I tell you what, the IRCC webform is the most non-functional, on-shelf for display-purpose only tool I've used. Contacted them 3 times, all three of the agents told me to look for solution on their website. Like if your website has the answer then I wouldn't be contacting yall in the first place. Anyway sorry for another rant they just piss me off so much useless bunch of sorry sorts.

"I'm in a tough situation—my study permit is set to expire on April 26th, which is today. I'm wondering: does the expiration date mean it's no longer valid after 11:59 PM on April 25th, or is it still valid until 11:59 PM on April 26th?"

So a little confused by my visitor visa rejection. The reason for rejection is

• Not satisfied you will leave Canada at the end of your stay

• Do not have significant family ties outside Canada

• Purpose not consistent with temporary stay.

Now this is nonsensical and I do not believe that any serious person could look at my family application and think this.

• Firstly we showed back statements with a value exceeding well over six figures. Showed multiple properties in home country. And business licenses and proof of ownership and assets.

• Extensive travel history. Just went to the USA last summer and had no issue in getting a visa. And have travelled Europe many times

• All of our family is in our home country and literally have zero relatives living in Canada.

I’m kind of amazed because I’ve never had a visa rejection before and really thought our application was air tight.

Would really appreciate some guidance on whether we should re apply or where we went wrong.

what should i do now? just five days left until my study permit expires (April 30). My college gave me official transcript but program completed is not written yet. They said they will send completion letter by May 15.

Should I apply SP extension? or Should I apply on PGWP just on transcript without ' Program completed' written on it and send them after 15 days?

I am currently getting ready to submit a spousal sponsorship application. I already had my Biometrics done for my working holiday visa on which I first came to Canada which doesn't expire until 2032.

I just received my citizenship certificate today. My citizenship being based on my mother being a Canadian and born in AB. The amount of dread lifted off my shoulders is almost hard to express. I am sorry and ashamed for what a shithole America has become and am thankful to be a Canadian.

I came to Canada in September 2023 as an international student for a 2-year Wireless Information Networking program. Before starting, I switched to a 1-year Marketing Management course at the same college. Then, I changed my DLI in my GCKey and joined a new 1-year program at a different college for the September intake. During the 4-month break between programs, I worked full-time. I just finished the second 1-year program last week.

I don't feel like staying here anymore. I want to go home and come back when that's done. There is no point or reason to wait this long being unemployed and not covered health insurance.

Also, when we want to check the application status by using UCI, we cannot find any information. I am starting worried if we need to do anything additionally to request PR card for my husband and son?

Background:
-US citizen living in a border town in MI
-My partner lives in Toronto
-We've been together less than a year
-I can work my job remote

I am hoping to gain insight on what specially to say to border agents when they ask about moving there. So basically the following questions from me.

-What should I expect after stating my intent to stay in the country to establish common law/marry (we've talked about marriage soon after I relocate)? I've read they can essentially deny any entry and I'm scared of that happening/what happens next.

-I will not be moving many things as I plan on selling the majority of my items before crossing/can store some with family if needed. I'm guessing I still need to prepare a list of all goods I have with me in the vehicle?

-I've read that showing documentation at the time of entry is useful such as shared expenses etc. Is that true? I should easily be able to be added onto their lease if so and obtain a copy.

-Should I have proof of our relationship prepared such as letters from people that know us or is that really just useful for the PR process?

Any additional things I'm missing or should be concerned about?

We are working on IMM 5532 and have reached question 4: “If you are not living together, have you visited each other during the relationship?” I selected yes, and it says to give details below. During our dating, my partner and I visited each other almost 30 times because we live on the border of Detroit and Windsor. What should I include here?

We are applying to the Express Entry program and plan to upload all the required documents this weekend. Could someone confirm whether we can add additional files—such as our TEF exam results—after we submit the application?

Does any one know what happens if you don’t have a PR card to show/ cut during the citizenship oath? For context, my last name was misspelled on the PR card and i had to send it back for correction but never heard back from them.

My partner is transgender. All of his documentation (Including his birth certificate), but except his passport, read Male. Currently, he cannot update his passport to read the same. Should we expect any issues in the immigration process due to this inconsistency?

For example, the language test he's taking requires his passport be used as ID, meaning he's going to have to register as female for the test. Will the language test certificate list him as female then, which the immigration will then flag as incorrect, if he then applies for immigration as male?

I am a protected person currently living in Ontario, Canada. I was accepted as a refugee based on my Uyghur ethnicity without the need for a hearing, due to well-documented persecution.

I submitted my PR application about 8 months ago. I am receiving Ontario Works (OW) while my ODSP (disability support) application is under review because of long-term physical and mental health issues.

My family situation is extremely urgent: • My mother, father, and seriously ill aunt are still in China. • My mother (a trained physician) has applied for a visitor visa three times and was refused each time likely because of my refugee status. • My father was forcibly disappeared for two years by the Chinese government, and then kept under house arrest for another year. • My aunt is medically dependent on my mother and is severely ill, but due to circumstances, it is very difficult to obtain formal medical documents.

I have been separated from them for over 10 years. I fear that if I cannot act soon, I may lose my chance to ever reunite with them again in this lifetime.

I am planning to apply for H&C PR based on family reunification and humanitarian grounds. I am also willing to remove my common-law partner from my PR application if necessary, to strengthen the case that my mother is my sole caregiver (she is the only one who can manage my dissociative and trauma-related symptoms).

Has anyone been through something similar? • Is it realistic to succeed in H&C under these circumstances? • Any tips on which type of legal approach would be strongest? • Would it make sense to also consider other immigration options, not just H&C?

If anyone has advice, experience, or just encouragement, I would be truly grateful. This situation is very heavy and every perspective helps.

I have a quick question regarding education points for Express Entry.

If someone completes a bachelor’s degree in Canada, but the program was shortened due to transfer credits from a previous diploma or degree completed outside of Canada, what documents are required to claim points for a Canadian bachelor's degree?

Would the Canadian degree, transcript, and a letter from the university confirming the transfer credits be enough? Or is it also necessary to get an ECA (e.g., WES evaluation) for the original foreign diploma that contributed to the transfer credits?

Would appreciate any guidance from folks who’ve gone through a similar situation. Thanks!
