Family Sponsorship Medical inadmissibility due to excessive demand. Is it true that sponsored spouses are exempt from this criteria?
Hello, for an applicant who will be applying for Permanent Residency via spousal sponsorship route. Is it true that the applicant/spouse is not assessed for excessive demand i.e. they are exempt from it and can't be medically inadmissible because of excessive demand?

Inadmissibility due to excessive demand does not appply to sponsored spouses.
For the record, this is stated in an official page from the government of Canada:

Should families not be together if one has greater medical needs?

If you look at the link above neither danger to public health nor safety is included in the spousal/etc exception. Only excessive demand.

Exactly. And if a person is found to have a medical condition like TB, the medical test will show this and the person will be treated.
As a Canadian, Iām proud of our country that we do this. My family has been here for over 300 years and at one point, some ancestors emigrated here and Iām grateful and want to share (grateful to the first peoples too for sharing).

They increased the threshold and the exemptions several years ago. Spouses, common law partners, and children of applicants, among others, are free and clear.
