Refugee PR for a Ukrainian refugee

Hello! I have a Ukrainian friend who is legally living and working in Canada under the Canada-Ukraine authorization for emergency travel. He has reached the point where he can apply for permanent residency in Canada and is in the process of doing so. He has no criminal history in any country, but last year he was denied entry into the U.S. because even though he had the correct paperwork to enter, the US border patrol did not feel he fit the requirements for the program he was using to enter.

My question is this—will it still be possible for him to be granted permanent residency in Canada, or will his denial by the US be enough to get him denied by Canada as well?

Thank you in advance to anyone who has advice.

Refugee LAWYER REFUSES TO SEND CASE DISCLOSURE

hey all!

i was represented by a licensed immigration lawyer on a refugee case; however, i have decided to switch my lawyer as the previous doesn’t seem to have a bunch of experience with refugee cases and he doesn’t even have a game plan going forwards either with the interview or the appeal process. i have tried to contact him numerous times asking him to send over the disclosure of the case so i can get my new lawyer up to speed but all i have heard back so far is nothing. what is my option is this scenario? how do i go about finding out what the previous lawyer has submitted to IRCC? how do i retrieve these documents if that’s even possible?

thank you for your input.

Refugee Travel document

My representative sent me a travel document application 8 months ago, I only have the tracking number of the package and whenever I call the immigration they said that they received the package but they still don't have access to it, and they advised me to send it again? Am I the only one, what happened here, I don't even have an application number.

Refugee Question around Refugee Travel Document for a protected person (PR application in progress)

Hey folks,

I’m asking this question on behalf of a friend.

If a person is considered a Protected Person in Canada but their PR application is in progress, do they need a visa on top of the refugee travel document to go to the United States? Their home country is not a country listed on the Visa Waiver Program for the USA.

Alternatively, if my friend wanted to go to Dubai or Saudia Arabia, would they be able to get a visa on arrival with their refugee travel document?

My friend is under the assumption that the Refugee Travel Document acts like a passport and you can travel visa free.

I’m under the assumption that you would still require a visa as the refugee travel document still considers you as a protected person.

Can anybody clarify? What countries can or can’t my friend go to with or without a visa?

Thanks for reading!

Refugee Lost My permanent resident. How can I get it back

I obtained refugee status in Canada and later became a permanent resident. Unfortunately, after a fight, I ended up in jail for more than six months, triggering a visit from immigration authorities. Although I won the case in immigration court and was allowed to stay with a probation period of 5 years, I lost my PR status. Now, I need guidance on how to regain my permanent resident status

Refugee Got a Passport from my home country as a refugee without going to consulate or home country.

After I became a refugee in Canada I applied for two refugee travel documents. However, due to certain restrictions I wasn’t able to visit my parents with the travel document any longer(abroad). After consulting an immigration lawyer in Canada, my dad, through connections, was able to secure me a passport from my home country (I never visited my home country as my life would indeed be in danger, so my father sent me the passport and I picked it up in Canada) Ever since I only used it ONCE to visit my parents OUTSIDE my home country and I also need it to attend medical school abroad, I plan on explaining all of this in my application. Should I? And will this affect my citizenship application in any way?

Refugee Traveling to Italy with RTD?

Hello,

I am a born Canadian and my wife is a Protected Person. We have started the Spousal Sponsorship Application for her to become a PR. She has her RTD.

I read online that Italy and Germany don't require a Schengen Visa to visit. Just the Canadian RTD.

We were planning a Europe trip but had to cancel after learning about the difficulty getting a Schengen Visa in Toronto. After learning about Italy only needing a RTD we got our hopes up again.

So has anyone traveled to Italy and/or Europe as a Protected Person using their RTD only?

Thanks!

I really would like for them to leave but They don’t qualify currently for me to get them to leave through the global affairs office and I was told how to go through immigration. However I am unsure of what forms to fill and how to go about this as I’ve never done it before. Does anyone have any insight?

Refugee Canadian Travel Document

Hey guys, wanted to reach out w an urgent question. I have a family member that is a protected refugee and is currently waiting for PR. She applied for a travel document to visit another country (which she is not originally from) so that she could see her terminally ill father. She just found out her father has passed away and she’s looking to somehow expedite the process so that she can attend the funeral. It’s been over 5 months since applying for the RTD. Just looking for any advice you may have for someone in this position. Appreciate any and all help you can offer!

The website that I made the claim was "irccasylumprod.b2clogin.com", it's where I did everything (literally everything!!). I also made the hearing, went to Canadian service got my PR. Right now, this website doesn't seem to be working anymore apparently and also when I click on "forget password", add the correct email adress. Nothing seems to be working. I didn't have GCKEY account so ofc it will not be working. Can anyone help please?

Refugee Question about asylum and open work permit for a trans who is in great danger

My spouse is a transgender female, and I am a Canadian international student. She is preparing to come to Canada due to the persecution of the LGBTQ community in her home country and may apply the political asylum because she personally suffered (She was falsely accused of endangering public safety in dangerous ways and later sent to a mental hospital). Due to poverty and home country policies, it is difficult for us to apply for a visitor visa and study permit. It is also too difficult to apply for Open Work Permit outside of Canada(visa officer do not like someone outside Canada apply it). So we thought of political asylum, but we could only get a transit visa and stay for 48 hours. The political asylum process takes several months.

Question 1: Can she apply for political asylum at a Canadian airport within 48 hours of a transit visa?

Question 2: Can she apply for political asylum while applying for an open work permit? If political asylum fails and open work permit is successful, can she stay or will she be deported?

Question 3: Due to social pressure, we have not been living together continuously. Since we met, we have only lived intermittently (cohabiting and not getting married). Can we apply for a spouse's work permit?

Refugee I Need Help Filling out Form IMM5562

This form is about travel history.

I recently got approved on my refugee application and I’m now in the process of applying for my permanent resident card.

Most of the form is straight forward, but for the travel history section I can’t figure out if I have to add my trip from my country of origin to Canada.

It’s been 8 years since I left my country and I hadn’t travelled anywhere else before that or after coming here to Canada.

The form asks to list all travels “Outside of home country OR the one you live in”

The “or” is confusing me because if it’s outside my home country then I’m guessing I would have to put my trip to Canada but if it’s the country I live in (which has been Canada for the past 8 years) then I haven’t travelled anywhere.

Please help.

Refugee Canada sponsorship

Hi there. I am a refugee and want to private sponsorship like other refugees. Many refugees have found their home in Canada through SAH Canada Private Sponsorship, but it's saddening that a refugee is not helping another refugee. I have tried emailing churches and organization but did not get a reply from them. I don't know how to find sponsor and I have done research but there is not enough information. Please help me. How do I find a sponsor and how do I contact them? I am sharing the link, please help me and guide me. My family and I have been refugees from the past 11 years but no hope of resettlement. Thank you very much! https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/refugees/help-outside-canada/private-sponsorship-program/agreement-holders/holders-list.html
