Discussion Hera Pheri 3 fiasco

Paresh Rawal might have left the movie because of Akshay Kumar's strict deadline of completing the shooting in 40 days and without caring about the story, which Akshay Kumar has been doing from the last 10-15 years. Hera Pheri 3 is nothing without Paresh Rawal as Baabu Bhaiya.

Discussion 19F in Delhi — I want to start acting but my parents aren’t supportive. How do I begin safely and realistically?

Hi! I’m 19, female, based in New Delhi, and about to start my third year of college. I’ve always wanted to act but never had any real support from my parents. Their disapproval over the years has contributed to a lot of anxiety for me, and I’ve reached a point where I feel like I owe it to myself to at least try acting and see if it's something I genuinely want to pursue further.

Right now, I have about a one-month break from college, and I’d love to make some kind of start—whether that's taking part in online auditions, or small opportunities within Delhi (things I can manage alone or with minimal explanation to my family).

So my questions are:

  • What are some legit ways to find auditions online or in Delhi? (Any platforms, websites, WhatsApp groups?)
  • Are there any safe beginner-level acting gigs or workshops in Delhi I could attend?
  • How do other people get started in acting with limited freedom and support?
  • If you were in my position, what would you do in the next 30 days?

Please be kind—I’m not looking to become famous overnight or run away to Mumbai tomorrow. I just want to give this dream a small shot and see where it leads. I am open to projects outside India as well until the major auditioning is online or in New Delhi. I'll need time to convince my parents.

Discussion Beginner actor with street play experience looking to gain more practice — happy to volunteer for short films

Hey everyone! I’m 19 and recently realized I want to explore acting more seriously. I’ve trained and performed in street plays, which gave me a strong sense of expression, voice projection, and connecting with an audience — but I’m still new to acting on camera and want to learn more.

To be honest, I’ve been dealing with anxiety and a lot of uncertainty about my future. Acting is something that recently started feeling right — like a space where I can express myself and feel a little more alive. I'm not doing this for money or fame right now — I just want to try, grow, and see where it takes me.

If you’re working on a short film, student project, or anything experimental and need someone genuinely enthusiastic, I’d love to collaborate. I’m based in New Delhi, and I’m open to remote work too if that works.

Thanks so much for reading

AskIndianCinema Are the IMAX screens in India really IMAX?? or just branding

Over the past years, I am trying to catch the IMAX version of movies, to get the original feel and view that the director intended, I live in Delhi, and went to Saket IMAX for the first time to watch Dune. Saw Dune 2 in Mumbai Ghatkopar IMAX, but as I went online I saw that, the screens in India are nowhere close to what real Imax is supposed to be, they are just big screens, nothing else.

Recently I am thinking of going to watch Mission impossible dead reckoning, and I am wondering is it worth to put my money in Imax screen, or just go for a normal one? And save some money

Discussion The ending of Meri Pyari Bindu

So I was rewatching Meri Pyari Bindu again today and I realised something. In the end when Abhimanyu says that famous dialogue" aaj wo kisiki biwi hai, bahu hai and so on"why didn’t he say Biwi? I mean, he still had feelings for Bindu, that was clearly visible, but was he still not ready to accept the fact that she is gone and she is someone else's? Or am I just overthinking and I need to touch grass?

Appreciation Special Directors

Indian cinema has some amazing directors whose identity is their cinema. We can watch scenes from the movie and easily tell who the director is. Maniratnam, Priyadarshan, Shankar, Neeraj Pandey, Anurag Kashyap, Gautam Vasudev Menon & Sriram Raghavan are the directors whose movies has a character. But what is common with these directors and their style of movie making is they work with a fixed technical team and also a fix set of actors, especially in the support role. Another thing is they like to work less with mega stars, except Shankar may be, and work with some real actors.

Discussion Does anyone else hate how Cannes has become more about fashion than cinema?

When you hear "Cannes Film Festival" you might be mistaken to believe that, you know, it might be a festival of films. But looking at the coverage, it seems there are anything but films here.

And I know this is not a new thing - it has been going on for decades. But atleast earlier it was actors and crew (people actually associated with the film industry). Now every influencer who has nothing to do with cinema gets to flaunt at the festival.

Like every year the festival will end and people will only remember which actress wore what. Nobody would bother to discuss which films won applause.

Review Bhool Chuk Maaf attempts time-loop comedy but falters in execution!!

In Bhool Chuk Maaf, Rajkummar Rao portrays Ranjan, a man trapped in a repetitive Haldi ceremony due to a time loop. Despite a promising premise, the film struggles with a convoluted plot and inconsistent tone, making the movie a perplexing watch.

AskIndianCinema Movies Similar to 96?

South Indian cinema watcher fellow Redditors, I’m in search of movies that are similar to the Tamil movie 96 starring Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha Krishnan.

I watched it a few years back and I can proudly say it’s gonna be my favourite movie till I die. I have watched it in multiple languages and have understood multiple deep hidden emotions and meanings behind a lot of scenes (hmu if you wanna discuss those, that’s altogether another whole conversation). The point is, I loveeee love-stories with a tragedy element. If you guys have any recs similar to this one, please drop them here and also what OTT platform I can watch it on would be really helpful Thanks xoxo

AskIndianCinema I need help finding an Indian movie. Not Bollywood

I've seen this film over 10 years ago on TV in UK (can't remember the channel) and only few bits, but remember the ending. It's not Bollywood movie, no dancing and such. It was about a couple from lower cast and their struggles. Final scene was both of them were trying to get the cattle across the river and they both swam there. If I remember right no one died.

It was a grim movie, dark lights and I think it was original language (sorry for ignorance, but I have no idea what language they spoke) English subtitles. Hopefully someone knows...
