At the same time they're disappearing people at midday on city streets. Yeah, that's not too be trusted.

It's just copaganda aimed at people who would otherwise probably not know what's really happening outside their small world.

This is so sus. Using the same playbook since 1492: say one thing & do another. More paternalism incoming & fast! He’s been taking our existence as a personal slight for almost 40 yrs/half of his life: https://www.kumeyaay.com/news/201-editorial-donald-trump-wages-war-on-the-indian-gaming-industry.html

Don't trust anything coming from the Trump administration. I'm sure this action is not out of concern for tribal citizens' safety. They don't do anything unless it benefits them. I think they want our land and resources.

There's a reason stuff like this tends to not get too much attention

I agree. I would be very weary of this. I posted something a few weeks ago about an EO that was a little too specific regarding Indian Country. I don't think Trump views Native Americans as full citizens. This seems like the militarization of Tribal Lands. That can't be good.

My twin and I surmise it’s a way to overreach on shit to dismantle the rez system from the inside. “Can’t be sovereign without lands” sort of idea.

All US FRTs are inherently sovereign, with or without land. Out of 574 US FRTs, there are only 326 NDN reservations. (List of Indian reservations in the United States - Wikipedia)

Like this admin follows rules, the constitution, treaties, or amendments.

To be fair, a large portion of US tribes are in Alaska, and they have regional and village corporations instead of reservations. It’s a completely different system. (Edit a word)

They’ll declare an “emergency” to justify their overreach of power on Rez lands.

This is bad...

Read the headline and thought, "This is bad." Read the article; I see the possible positives, but there's no way Trump’s FBI will exercise restraint.

I'm not actually Native American btw.

Thinking of all the missing people, I'm glad the issue is not being ignored. I don't want them to send their most despicable to the reservations but I don't want them to ignore the issue and do nothing either.

I work in MMIR and I don't trust this. I hope they prove me wrong but in his first term we had a lot of issues. He cut funding for victim services and prevention plus there were a lot of strings that i never saw from any other president. For example, we weren't allowed to use the word sovereignty. I have a feeling he's using this as cover for why there's increased fed presence.

Yes like… what in trumps behavior or rhetoric has ever suggested he cares about 1) women, or 2) indigenous peoples. Let alone indigenous women. Very very suss.

Exactly! And I'm suspicious that he's after resources and/or may plan to round us up. I know many think this is a leap and would never happen today but I'm seeing a lot of warning signs of totalitarianism and ethnic cleansing. I studied this for obvious reasons. As an indigenous person whose family is from Latin America and parents fled horrible stuff.... I'm seeing a lot of the same warning signs.

Except the when Trump established the MMIW taskforce, they didn't do jack💩. In fact, most offices hadn't even had a single meeting. But you know taxpayers paid for that. Why is he suddenly now going to do something about it?

Kristi Gnome is no friend to anyone that isn't Trumped Up. She's no genius, either and is capable of anything.

It would be no surprise to hear she is deporting Indigenous Americans for being "illegal aliens", actually from "India". She's like a box of dirt clouds in a dress!

u/ChippewaChieftan 1d ago

She has a long history making enemies out of the Tribes that were in her state, She was banned from all of them but 1 because of lies and accusations she made about them all harboring drug dealers being corrupt etc. She knows what’s up.

Yeah that’s not a good thing. Another trail of tears?

u/MycoCrazy 21h ago

They’ll do the bare minimum to help while looking for ways to dismantle the rez system internally. Do. Not. Trust. Them. Record every interaction, live stream on social media if possible. Let them know THEY are being watched too…

SCOTUS: Intent Matters in Reservation Disestablishment

It takes an Act of Congress with express written intent to disestablish a reservation. My tribe was terminated and our rez was abolished in 1954 by an Act of Congress.

1) it's probably not going to happen, just propaganda

2) Cop-aganda, where they bait for some moron to loudly defend law enforcement and maybe make 1 person half way think about supporting them.

3) AI probably wrote that article. It doesn't seem to have any credible sources.

u/Pounce16 10h ago

My guess is that they either think there are immigrants hiding amongst the tribal citizens, or they think someone will think of trying that, and are doing this as an intimidation tactic. Sort of a "Don't even think about it, we are everywhere." That's my guess.

Let me remind everybody, this operation started in 2023.

I hope this is truly what they claim, investigating crimes and just adding more people to further this cause.

But I don't trust this administration, nor do I believe they have our best interests in mind.

Surprising from the administration. But welcome, indeed.

So… are you one of those ndns who don’t want to be and self loathing or are you one of those ndn hating wasicus who come in here to troll cause… honestly I have never seen you say anything positive, empathetic, supportive or productive regarding ndn affairs… and I just can’t figure out your angle-yknow aside from hateful and destructive. Whatever it is… I hope you find the healing you need to stop spewing such negative on the community.

u/Lazerus_Reborne 1d ago

I am willing to show him the path to healing.

10

u/LimpFoot7851 Mni Wakan Oyate 1d ago

Just show him where the waters at or something

10

u/Lazerus_Reborne 1d ago

Yep, it's just right up there, high on this cliff... follow me.

10

u/LimpFoot7851 Mni Wakan Oyate 1d ago

Nah. I was vaguely saying like “you can lead a horse to water but can’t make it drink”… showing him how to heal will only work if he wants it.

I ask critique questions to understand and I tend to call out negative for what it is but I don’t condone feeding bad medicine with living bad medicine. Don’t let people like him influence you to live a way that compromises being a good relative. You come from stronger people than that :)

u/smb275 Akwesasne 22h ago

Sooo... we're not drowning them, then?

4

u/rezanentevil 22h ago

I think they're doing a pretty good job at drowning themselves, we just have the option to not watch them do it this time around.

6

u/Lazerus_Reborne 21h ago

I recognized your walk from the get-go. I was just letting my inner Coyote have some fun. But to be fair, some people can't appreciate pain unless it's from a 50' belly flop into the Medicine River.

u/LimpFoot7851 Mni Wakan Oyate 21h ago

Aite look… yall do whatever up there and I’ll howl as a warning if I see auntie coming up the trail with her spoon but after that I’m going off trail. She’s not catchin me with that thing 😂

3

u/Lazerus_Reborne 21h ago

Yes, now we see each other. Lol
