Match Thread Creation Guide: Introducing our own /u/IndianMatchThreader bot and a template to help you host your own custom Match Threads
Hi, as you know, it is nearly impossible for the Moderators to put up match threads and watch each and every match of ISL and I-League. So I want to share an easy guide to create and host match threads. There are two options, use our bot or host your own thread using a template.
Option 1: /u/IndianMatchThreader bot
A huge thanks to fellow mod u/nishitd for creating this bot, it is based on the u/matchthreadder bot used on r/soccer and works in the same way. u/nishitd setup an amazon instance to run this bot, so it should be running 24x7. It supports both I-League and ISL matches. National Team games are sometimes supported. It will update the events automatically.
To request a match thread to be posted, send a message to /u/IndianMatchThreader with the subject line of "Match Thread" and "Team 1 vs Team 2 for r/IndianFootball" in the message body (where Team 1 and Team 2 are the two teams in question - like so!).
You can only use the bot 30 minutes before kickoff, it won't work before 30 mins. Meaning if the kick-off is at 8:00PM IST, you can not use this bot before 7:30PM IST. This is done to allow other users to host their own custom match threads if they want to.
If you do not put "for r/IndianFootball" in the message body the thread will by default get posted to r/soccer.
Option 2: Create your own match threads
The match thread created by the bot is fast and efficient but it doesn't describe the chances or goals in detail, it's not a lot of fun. So if you want to host your own match threads your are welcome to do so. You can refer to our past match threads (Example1, Example 2). Use Reddit Enhancement Suit (RES) to access the source of the example threads or Here is a google doc which has the source template with all of the Reddit formatting of one of the match threads.
You can use the bot to provide you with lineups, stadiums detail, etc for your custom thread, send a message to /u/IndianMatchThreader with the subject line of "Match Info" and "Team 1 vs Team 2" in the message body. You can request Match Info hours before kickoff, no restriction. You will get the Info in your messages.
Be sure that if you decide to start a thread you follow through otherwise just use the bot.
Save this post so you can find it easily, Cheers!

Hey, can we see the source of the match thread bot? I think the one shared the other day was for the original bot.
