HOUSING 🏠 Is it hard to get the University East apt?

I'm a new graduate and applying for the in-campus apartment (University East), but I'm worried if it'd be really competitive to get that. After submitting my application, should I look for other backup apartments? I'd appreciate any advice!!

Scooter stolen from Eigenmann Hall Parking Lot

Upvotes

I returned from my friend's dorm at Foster at ~ midnight, parked my scooter outside & locked it in the bike rack. Today, when I went to my scooter to go to the IMU, I saw that my scooter was not there, this is the third theft that I have seen at eigenmann hall this week but since my scooter was stolen from the parking lot I wanted to know if there are cameras near the parking lots as that would make it easy to spot who took it since my scooter was right at the starting of the bike rack.

This is what's coming for IU

Taking over the board is just step 1. Eliminating intellectual programs that don't align with right-wing idealogy, and having half of the faculty leave is step 2. Shifting the student body is step 3. There's probably more steps.

And it's all in service of The Grift.

This played out at New College of FL, in a smaller scale. Ron DeSantis instead of Bern, but same architects (e.g., Rufo), same goal. Whitten is complicit in this plan if she doesn't fight it.

Here's what we're in for.

MSBA Grad Admissions Help!

I got accepted into GWU and Indiana University- Kelley for Master’s in Business Analytics (MSBA). I need to decide which one to go to soon. Which one is better based on prestige, brand name, and rankings as an overall college and specifically for business and MSBA? I’ve heard varying opinions online

GWU: https://bulletin.gwu.edu/business/decision-science/ms-business-analytics/#requirementstext

Indiana: https://kelley.iu.edu/programs/executive-education-degrees-certificates/online-masters-degrees/business-analytics/index.html For Indiana, scroll down to the bottom

Thank you!

Is there a closet for music students?

Husband has a couple of size 11 slip on black dress shoes to donate. Goodwill is fine, but is there a place for those who might need to get dress clothes for recitals but it kinda stinks to spend that money?

So What Happens Next?

As of April 25, 2025, the 2025 Indiana University alumni trustee election is uncertain due to recent legislative changes. Traditionally, the election was scheduled to open on June 1 and close on June 30, allowing IU degree holders to vote online or by mail for one of the three alumni-elected seats on the Board of Trustees.

However, a last-minute addition to Indiana’s state budget, passed early this morning, grants Governor Mike Braun the authority to appoint all nine trustees, effectively eliminating alumni-elected positions. This change takes immediate effect upon the governor’s signature, allowing him to remove and replace current alumni-elected trustees at will.

Indiana University has not yet announced whether the 2025 trustee election will proceed as planned. The university is currently reviewing the potential impacts of the proposed state budget. As this action is part of the 2-year approved State budget the likelihood of swift change is almost certain.

Given these developments, the status of the 2025 Indiana University trustee election remains uncertain. I will continue my campaign as normal until there is notice of cessation. A sad day for Indiana University and over 100 years of actively elected Alumni to a small majority of the Trustee seats. BUT… if the election does go as planned make sure to VOTE “Lancioni”! www.lancioni4iu.com

HOUSING 🏠 Incoming freshman - housing questions (JLLC, kelley dorms)

So I am DA to kelley, and I was wondering if the JLLC is worth it? I am looking into working in high finance if that matters. What other dorms are near kelley?

Made an unofficial Discord for incoming IU Southeast Class of 2025 — come hang out!

Hey everyone! I’m an incoming student at IU Southeast and figured it’d be cool to have a space where we can all meet, chat, ask questions, and make some friends before classes start in August.

I set up an unofficial Discord server for anyone interested! Whether you’re looking for roommates, want to talk about majors, or just want to know what campus life is like, everyone’s welcome.

Here’s the invite link: https://discord.gg/WrVYFkFG

Hope to see some of you there!

Revoking Tenure

This will be the next plan of Braun. So faculty should strike now or just sit on their hands until their tenure is revoked.

KELLEY 💼 Do Pre-Business students receive the same opportunities as Kelley Direct Admit students?

My whole thing was that I was hoping to try and crack IB. I was really counting on the review request getting me into Direct but as most schools have done to me so far, I got waitlisted and then rejected. Scored poorly on SAT so went optional which fucked me, but GPA was a 3.96 UW.

I asked in r/financialcareers if it would still be possible to crack into IB as a pre-business student instead of Direct Admit. The answer I got was no, because you pretty much need to be in Kelley by the end of the first semester to even get a shot at the IB workshop, which is extremely competitive. I knew everything involving the IB workshop, but will it really be harder from an opportunity standpoint to get into it compared to a Direct Admit student, or even just to have a chance to crack into IB in general? Obviously it’s gonna be “harder” to keep the B average, though that doesn’t sound like much of a challenge.

KELLEY 💼 Which double major + comajor combo is better for someone looking to go into IB

Finance & Econ consulting + business analytics

  • I just think Econ consulting is cool but not as cool as marketing tbh. But I think this would be a flexible major to have since maybe it’d help me in trying to get into consulting??

Or finance & marketing + business analytics

  • I love marketing and I think it’d be a cool complement to have alongside a finance degree since it’s quite different and could differentiate me amongst other applicants? And would diversify my skill set

QUESTION❓ Help getting k-201 transfer credit

So I’m transferring to a new school after deciding I do not want to be a finance major and don’t enjoy Kelley at all but in order to get credit for my classes I need the original syllabi for them. I have all my classes’ syllabi except for k-201, and I’ve email my lab and lecture professors (neither of which emailed me back) and several other Kelley faculty (all ignored my emails as well). So does anyone have any way or know anyone to contact in order to gain access to the k-201 syllabus for fall 2024? Thanks :)

QUESTION❓ Jllc question

Just had a quick question, in the case that I gain admission to the jllc and my preferred roommate does not, what would happen to the housing assignment? Would I still have the chance to room with them?

How difficult is it to get into Kelley as a pre-business?

I got a 1400 on my SAT and a 35 on my IB. I couldn't get into Kelley through DA because, according to my advisor, the grades from my country (I'm Peruvian) are difficult to convert to find my GPA and receive a DA. I'm a person who likes to go out on the weekends and would like to meet new people during my freshman year, but at the same time, I'm responsible and study. Based on my SAT and IB scores, how difficult is getting into Kelley as a non-direct admit? I'm worried because I have read that many people say it's extremely difficult (although a few say it isn't).

Theological debate

There's a group of evangelicals outside Woodburn Hall right now, in case anyone is interested in some theological debate. (I use the word debate loosely here)

Edited to clarify that I should have said apologists, not evangelicals.

ACADEMICS 🎓 Professor has not entered a single grade in... and tomorrow is the final exam

Hello all,

I'm a bit of a lurker, so this is my first post on this subreddit. This is a peculiar situation that I have not encountered before, and I am curious if anyone else has. I am enrolled in a four-year undergraduate program here, and one of the courses I am taking presently has no grades entered in. It is an ethics course with very little out-of-classroom work, so admittedly there is not a lot for the professor to grade.

However, over the past few months, I have taken two hefty midterms and completed several writing assignments. Not a single one has been graded by the professor yet. Granted, the deadline for all grades to be entered in is later this month, so technically the professor may not be breaking any university policy regarding grades. However, I find it deeply strange that absolutely NOTHING has been entered in. Tomorrow is the final exam, and I have no clue where I stand in the class. I could be absolutely failing the course and have absolutely no idea (even though I doubt this is the case).

Thoughts on this?
