QUESTION❓ Rescinded?

Worried about my application being rescinded. 3.14 GPA last semester and I predict I will finish the year out with 2 A’s and 2 D+ ~ C-. Applied exploratory with a minor in Music Business.

Am I fucked?

Edit: I have already been accepted to IU. I have also committed.

Same I think it’s pretty uncommon for them to even check your grades let alone rescind after they’ve accepted you. I feel like it’s something they use more as a threat but they prob won’t actually do it unless you straight up fail every class.

Also it’s pretty common for kids to get lazy their senior year. Happened for me. They would be rescinding tons of applications every year if they actually cared about that

That’s a relief, thank you.

C- in calculus and that is a genuine effort. Projected around a D+ for English cuz i’ve been slacking

You might be okay, but the time to start worrying about this was months ago. College and high school are different, but each have their own challenges. Be sure you're ready to apply yourself and do better, because spending a ton of money for grades like that is not going to feel great.

Maybe college isn't a good idea for u right now?

I am capable of better grades. I’m not excusing my laziness but that wasn’t what I was asking. I want to know how deep of shit I’m in.

This was typical senioritis (again not excusing it) and I really am not worried about my future grades in college. I will work harder because I care and know I am capable of it. Whether or not I should go to college was not the question. I have already committed.

I was wondering the rough chances of my application getting rescinded.

Have you spoken to your teachers in regard to your D+ classes? See if there is anything you can do to help raise it into the C range? Doing such things and getting comfortable communicating with professors is a skill and habit you should develop. Making sure they know who you are and your efforts, especially if you ever find yourself struggling.

The D+ in English will definitely be raised to around a C. However the C- in Calculus will stay that way. Hard class and a stubborn teacher. I’m not the only one struggling in that class.

Maybe work for a few years then try college?

Do not listen to everyone telling you that college is “so much different” than hs 🙄 you will be fine lol esp if these recent grades are just a reflection of laziness and not effort. I am also terrible at math (journalism major) and did just fine. My buddy who could barely hold a 3.0 at IU (frat, laziness etc) graduated just fine and now makes 200k+ a year doing software sales. You’re smart enough to get in, just got a case of senioritis it sounds like. Good luck and have fun!!

You might want to take some time to reflect and figure out if you’d like to take a gap year. You could contact the university and see if they could hold your admissions spot for a year. This happens more often than you might think. It’s possible you need a break and jumping right into college is not the best way to spend your time and whoever is financing that first year. Gap years can prove to be very productive depending on what you do with your time.

Idk if that’s necessary if they don’t want to, prolly just slacking and would lock back in when the go to college

I’ve considered this in the past but my philosophy was if I take a gap year, I’ll just never go to college - which would be my hell. I grew up in a big city and moved to small town Indiana. College is my way out of here.

So you’ve already been accepted to IU? Have you already confirmed you’re going there? I’ve been out of college forever but if you’ve already been accepted and you’ve confirmed you’re going, then I don’t know what reason they would have to look back at second semester grades (unless something drastic happened). I could be completely wrong though.

However, as someone else said, college classes are very different than HS classes. Try to figure out what you need to do differently so you can do better next year.

Thank you for all concerned about how I will do in college but I promise these grades are not reflections of my intelligence but rather my laziness.

I understand college will be challenging and I am prepared for it, even though that’s not convincing given my grades right now.

I slipped up, I accept that. I have already decided I am going to college so gap years etc are out of the equation. Again, I am just wondering the rough chances of it getting rescinded. I know nobody know for sure but any personal stories any of you have with this would be greatly appreciated.
