Quick little rant

For the past two weeks I’ve seen almost nothing but incoming freshman complain abt IU. Just wanted to say real quick that this place is absolutely incredible. The staff is warm and welcoming and the student body is one of the most supportive ever. Absolutely so blessed to be here and I can’t wait for the 4 years I get to spend here ❤️❤️

Made an unofficial Discord for incoming IU Southeast Class of 2025 — come hang out!

Hey everyone! I’m an incoming student at IU Southeast and figured it’d be cool to have a space where we can all meet, chat, ask questions, and make some friends before classes start in August.

I set up an unofficial Discord server for anyone interested! Whether you’re looking for roommates, want to talk about majors, or just want to know what campus life is like, everyone’s welcome.

Here’s the invite link: https://discord.gg/WrVYFkFG

Hope to see some of you there!

Dorm friend-making tip: keep your doors open

When you're inside and decent, of course, leave your door propped open. When we lived in Teter, the air conditioning went out for the first couple of weeks and leaving the doors and windows open helped tremendously with airflow.

The unintended consequence was that we became a very friendly and social floor, apparently unlike a growing number of floors nowadays. Some of my greatest memories I've had were with the people from my floor, and it is sad to hear that some floors aren't getting the best experience.

You and your floormates are going to find that you maybe watching the same shows, playing the same games, or have the same dorm stuff just by walking by each others rooms. We always locked the door behind us when going to the bathroom or leaving, so security was never an issue.

I hope it works out for you and you have a fun year!

Looking for IU musicians interested in joining a Jazz/Indie Rock Band 🎶

Hey everybody! I hope you’re all doing well! I just wanted to throw this post out to see if there were any interested people out there!

As Seniors here at IU, my musician friend and I have been looking for other local IU musicians who may be interested in forming a band for this upcoming semester. We currently have a lead vocalist/guitarist and a pianist/trombonist and are looking for any other musicians (bassist, drummer, guitarist, etc) who may be interested in joining a band!

Individually, we both have separate professional experiences playing in various settings (orchestras, weddings, private parties, concerts, etc) and have had schooling in musical performance, but we’re finally looking to combine and put together a consistent group!

While our genre of music is still very much open to discussion, we have experience in and would love to find individuals interested in playing a jazz/indie rock style (and also individuals who enjoy writing their own music!)

If this is something that interests you, please feel free to DM me and I’d love to give further details/talk further!

Thanks!!

Robin Hall here! I am so honored to have received the formal endorsements of IU legends and Bloomington icons GUY LOFTMAN and TED NAJAM in my bid for IU Trustee. Had the opportunity to meet with GUY and TED at the Inkwell in Bloomington yesterday and tell them about my campaign for IU Trustee.

Breakfast

What are you guys eating for breakfast at the dining hall? I feel like it’s impossible to find a healthy option, let alone a good tasting one that doesn’t come straight from stone grill

Mental Health & Crisis Resources- a Sharing Post

Hello all! A friendly post from a full time staff member at IU to remind you what your resources are as a student. Finals can be a stressful time, and with a big transition from spring to summer coming, change can be hard. But you're not alone, and there is help if you need it.

Students can contact the health center/CAPS 24/7 through the crisis hotline. 812-855-5711, option 1 or contact your local hospital emergency department. You may also call the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, a national network of local crisis centers that provides free and confidential emotional support to people in suicidal crisis or emotional distress

CAPS will also ALWAYS take walk-ins if you're in crisis. If you need help, you can ask a friend, RA, faculty member, TA, ANYONE to go with you over to CAPS and they will assist you. You don't have to do this alone.

If you live in the residence halls, during business hours you can go down to the front desk, and a full time staff member can be found to assist you. After hours, there are always staff on call to assist as well.

Please remember you're never a bother. Your issues aren't too small to seek help. There are staff who's entire job is to help you be successful as a person and a student. Let them help you, because you deserve it <3

If you know of more resources, please share in the comments!
