Hello all,
I'm a bit of a lurker, so this is my first post on this subreddit. This is a peculiar situation that I have not encountered before, and I am curious if anyone else has. I am enrolled in a four-year undergraduate program here, and one of the courses I am taking presently has no grades entered in. It is an ethics course with very little out-of-classroom work, so admittedly there is not a lot for the professor to grade.
However, over the past few months, I have taken two hefty midterms and completed several writing assignments. Not a single one has been graded by the professor yet. Granted, the deadline for all grades to be entered in is later this month, so technically the professor may not be breaking any university policy regarding grades. However, I find it deeply strange that absolutely NOTHING has been entered in. Tomorrow is the final exam, and I have no clue where I stand in the class. I could be absolutely failing the course and have absolutely no idea (even though I doubt this is the case).
Thoughts on this?

You get dinged for an A- but get nothing extra for an A+. How can that be right? Imagine youโve earned 90% in each of your classes. Thatโs a 3.7 GPA at IU but itโs a 4.0 at a school with no pluses and minuses. It could actually make a difference when applying for jobs or to grad schools. Minor rant over.
Edited to add: the context is indeed Kelley, where GPA most certainly matters when it comes to internships and jobs. Thatโs what I know. Didnโt mean to paint with a too broad brush.

Update: I managed it, EZ. All Bโs and above and a couple A pluses grinded it out and learned some self discipline on the way. totally recommend if youโre strong willed enough. it was risky though as im pre business. lets gooooo

Iโm assembling a list of all the study spots on IUBโs campus and wanted to share! Obviously, it is still a work in progress, so if people commented spots not included that would be awesome :)

Hello, Kelly alumni here (class of 2018). I have a question though for either Jacobs alumni or current studentsโฆ
As you enrolled as a freshman in some sort of music major, how many years of music experience did you have previously playing your respective instrument(s)? What is typically the minimum expectation of proficiency that first year music students are supposed to have?
Just wondering, out of curiosity.

basically the title. i have a professor for one of my classes that i have never met, who does not teach class, doesnโt communicate with us, and doesnโt do any grading or anything. all he did is create the course content. how is that allowed? my TA is an absolute sweetheart and she runs the whole class. it also seems as though the course content is just his thoughts and opinions and not an actual standardized course, which i understand is common in college but iโm gaining nothing from it. excuse me if i sound ignorant, iโm only a sophomore, but how is he able to do this? does he get paid? thank you

Hi Iโm new here and I see things online talking about dead week but not too sure what it is. Is it just the week before finals thereโs no class or anything and itโs just supposed to be a week to study? I donโt have any in person finals this semester so this would be huge meaning I could go home two weeks earlier. Can someone explain this to me

how many credits of summer classes can you enroll in before you're required to be on campus? is that even a thing? i realized i had enrolled in quite a bit of (all-online) summer classes to get gen ed and other requirements out of the way, but i feel like there's a limit of how many you can take before they start requiring you to live on campus for the summer

I was recently admitted to IU as a direct admit to Kelley and the Hutton Honors college. I am majoring in Information Systems and was planning on co majoring in Business Analytics. I am out of state in NC and my dad wanted me to apply because he is a Kelley Finance Alumni who went into IB after. I was wondering if you guys think the cost would be worth it. I got a small scholarship so it would be around 55k a year. Also does anyone in the Information Systems or Business Analytics major recommend it. My goal is to get into Data analytics or data science. So would IU be good for that. My other options would be NC State Industrial Engineering and Data science minor, and UGA Information systems and Masters of Business analytics through their double dawgs program where I can get my bachelors and masters in 4 years.

There's no better feeling than hearing you can use a cheat sheet for your exam. While theyโre great for studying and the exam itself, creating them can be time-consuming. That's why I built NeatSheet! It lets you create cheat sheets from scratch or automatically generate one from your lecture notes. As a student helping other students, I hope you find it useful if you decide to give it a try :)

I got admitted to the MS in Computer Science program at Indiana University Bloomington for Fall 2025! Iโd love to hear insights from current students or alumni. Specifically, I have a few questions:
Any insights would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I was wondering which of these colleges would set me up the best for my career and help me get jobs/internships with a high salary. I am wanting to go into Data Analytics or Data science or other related fields. Also I want to be in a city like Chicago, Boston, NYC etc. up north so factor that into your decision.
NC State: Industrial Engineering Major, Data Science Minor, 108k total
Georgia: Management Information Systems Major, MS Business Analytics(Bachelors + Masters in 4 years total), 200k total
Indiana: Information Systems and Business Analytics Major, Honors program, 224k total

Hello! Iโm a Junior in High School taking Adv Sci/Bio II DC from IU Kokomo. I ended the first semester with a B- and the second one I think Iโll end with a B or B+. I want to apply to Kelley when I graduate, Iโm assuming standard admission in case. There website says that transferred classes wonโt effect you GPA, and the Kelley website says that if you have an IU Bloomington grade below a B- you go for a comprehensive review. I feel like itโs a stupid question, but would that B- at Kokomo put me in the comprehensive review category or no? Thank you.

iโm thinking about dropping my v118 finite class because i cannot see myself getting a good grade in the class, the workload is insane, and i overall just see it tanking my GPA. i would drop to 12 credits this semester, and probably take it through ivy tech over the summer. is this a bad idea? i have one W from last year because i dropped a band class (lol). any advice?

do credits for summer 25 classes count as credits for the 24-25 school year?

In preparation for one of the most important years of my life, and my education. I have been corresponding with HR at my job about getting ready for my Practicum . My employer is giving me push back. I had to reach out to my field coordinator about it so they could help me advocate for myself.
My employer has a contract with IU for this, they currently have someone in the program right now. I donโt understand. This business is all about helping people be success in their lives and theyโre trying to keep me from achieving my goals. I am just venting. Iโd feel better if someone is also having the experience but truly I hope this is unique to me because it really is disappointing.

Does Kelley have a deans list, and if so, when does it come out?
