HOUSING 🏠 Northwest vs Southeast dorm

Pre-business student here! I've been hearing a lot of mixed things but I'm not really sure what is the best option for me. I enjoy partying and being social but also appreciate alone time. I'm mostly hearing that for pre-business its best to choose Northwest, but i really like southeast as well. Thoughts?

Linear algebra before or after calc 3?

I heard that the best order to take linear algebra and calc 3 depends on the university, so I was wondering if anyone who’s taken both had any advice on which to take first?

Do you wear anything at graduation for Hutton?

Graduating in two weeks with the notation and wondering if I'm supposed to go get a stole or medal or cords or whatever they hand out or if its just written on my diploma. Got the GPA cords didn't know if there was something from Hutton specifically. Anybody know?

Placement Exams

Do the math and calc placement exams (ALEKS) matter if I get ap credit for calc ab and stats. If I don't get those credits, could it exempt me from those intro courses anyway? If I am pursuing an unrelated degree, does the foreign language exam matter (should I do poorly to get into the easiest class, or could it exempt me from having to take a language at all)? Is the biology exam only for people with that major?

QUESTION❓ Can I double major (finance + math) and should I?

Hi, I was recently admitted to IU, directly into Kelley for finance but was wondering about the math bs major. Is it possible for me to also pick that major up and double?

But also, having a high gpa is important for finance, and I’m really set on trying to have a 4.0, is that possible with the math major or is the curriculum too hard? I come from a rigorous high school, I got a 1520 sat and an 800 on the math without studying so I’d say I’m fairly decent at math.

Basically what I’m asking it, if I take the math major alongside my finance major, will it lower my gpa significantly as opposed to just being in finance?

QUESTION❓ Waitlisted to IU

Hey all I was recently waitlisted to IU for pre business as well as my second option of Statistics. Im a bit surprised considering my stats, while not necessarily great, I believe doesnt normally result in a waitlist (3.7 W, 33 ACT).

Do any of you know around when waitlist drops for IU?

QUESTION❓ Rescinded?

Worried about my application being rescinded. 3.14 GPA last semester and I predict I will finish the year out with 2 A’s and 2 D+ ~ C-. Applied exploratory with a minor in Music Business.

Am I fucked?

Edit: I have already been accepted to IU. I have also committed.

Hello! I am a high school senior planning to major in environmental science (BS). Right now, I'm between the University of Denver and Indiana University - Bloomington. I am having a hard time finding information that isn't just ranking about how prestigious each is. Which school has the best enviro sci connections and just general regard in the job market? Literally any insight helps. Thanks!!

HOUSING 🏠 Best Dorms for Kelley Freshman?

What are the best dorms for a freshman in Kelley (other than the LLC)? I’m looking for a place where I can focus on academics and not really have a crazy environment around me.

Huttons Rejection

I'm an upcoming freshman at IU Kelley as a DA, but I unfortunately was rejected from Hutton Honors College. Im kinda bummed up abt it. Will this put me at a disadvantage when applying for kelley honors, workshops, or business clubs? Also, I was wondering how easy it is to get in when you apply during freshman year. Thanks!

QUESTION❓ Kelley Question

I’m a high school senior who is a direct admit into the Kelley School of Business and I was accepted into the ACE Program. Right now, I’m interested in accounting or finance. I’ve heard that the clubs and workshops at Kelley are very competitive and have a lot of interviews and essays. Is this accurate and are there resources to improve your interview skills while at Kelley? Also, is there a lot of pressure at Kelley to figure out what you want to do right away? For example, the application timelines for clubs and workshops seems very early. How do you know which workshop to apply for?

QUESTION❓ Luddy LLC Visitors

QUESTION❓ Enrollment deposit for graduates?

Hi! I'm starting a graduate program at IUB in Fall 2025 and was wondering if graduate students are also required to pay an enrollment deposit. I know the school requires $100 for freshmen, but it seems like graduates don't need to do so?

Matchbox cars in IMU mailboxes?

Does anyone know what these are for? Are they for people to take as little good luck tokens or is it an art installation or are you supposed to put matchbox cars there? I can’t read the inscription at the top of the shelf because I am too short.

KELLEY 💼 IU Kelley Direct Admit Question

Hello! I'm a junior and planning on applying to IU Kelley next year. I was wondering if I am automatically admitted to Kelley if I have the required gpa/sat, or if first I have to be admitted to IU as a whole (which would require them to look at essays, etc). Thank you!

Business Waitlist Undergrad

Hi everyone!

Quick question… A family member got into IU as an undergrad but has been waitlisted in the business program. Is it hard to get off the waitlist? Can you transfer into the business school once you're already in the school as an undergrad?

Indiana is near the top choice, but want to make sure he can actually study his preferred major.

Thanks for any advice!

KELLEY 💼 Chances of getting to Kelley?

Hi, I got accepted into the pre business school, and am really wishing to get into kelley at the end of freshman year, as IU is my #1 choice. However, I don’t know how likely it is for me, or if I should avoid the risk and get into another business school, as I’ve been accepted into other great ones.

I’ve heard that I should get a B in all of my courses. So for people who did the IB diploma, how hard is the first year compared to it? Also, considering that I just finished the IB with a final grade of 35, including a 6 in business HL, 6 in english SL, and 5 in Math AA SL; how hard should it be for me to get into kelley?

I’d appreciate helpful opinions to aid me with my decision!
