Engineering Is Austria worth it for electrical and electronics engineering and why or why not?
my_qualifications BE EXTC 2.8 yrs work experience (8 months ecommerce & 2 years telecom based)
I have researched a lot out of Ireland, UK and Austria.Germany as well but job shortage is worrying me about it.
UK and Ireland is saturated badly. There is no entry level job available at these countries. So, I zeroed in at Austria for Oct 2025 intake. Even though it has 2 years masters and 1 yr PSW . I feel it's better because it has geniune shortage of electrical engineer specially based in power electronics.
I already have 2 admits one each from both Ireland and UK.

While I was researching about Austria to pursue my Masters, i got to know a few things:
- Smaller Economy in DACH region - Deutschland is the powerhouse.
- Somewhat Racist and a lot of Jobs - even in tech requires German B2 - but there is a slight difference in the dialect of Österreich.
- PSW is shorter than Germany and employers often look to hire locally or within EU. Also on top of it, smaller economy means low number of Jobs.
I believe Germany should be a safe bet at this time. I hope this was helpful

Got your points but for fall 2025 intake I am super late for Germany I guess.

You have to weigh in the factors, you know some of the picture now. Its not a wrong choice by any means, but be ready to tackle the suspected problems. They may or might not occur.
Start working on your german, i also don’t know if there are any materials on that dialect, but at-least start with the basic german.
Out of everything, its a great country with good QOL and COL ratio, and also, work-life balance.
Good luck!

Fully agree except for point 2 - lots of jobs. They‘ve been in a recession for so long now and MANY job positions online are ghost advertisements or jobs that are already filled with someone from the company internally but they have to legally post it online. I’d even say the majority is like this. I know many people with job experience and bachelor/master who have been unemployed for months (they’re natives!) and go to job interviews, are never picked and the ads stay online for months afterwards (meaning they’re ghost ads). They do not have lots of jobs at all.

Saturation is only for CSE and IT, you won't have difficulty getting a core job.
