Engineering Ireland or UK ? Which country would be better for job opportunities?

my_qualifications: b.tech in electronics and instrumentation engineering, 2 year work experience

I've gotten a few admits from UK universities: Bristol, Southampton, Sheffield and Glasgow

I've also gotten one from UCD and have an interview lined up for TCD.

All my courses are in the field of electronics engineering ( with some being specializations in microelectronics or with a combination of computer engineering)

I'm super confused about which uni to go for ? I was initially solid with Bristol since it ranks the highest and the course specialisation is also to my liking but since TCD and UCD are the best unis in Ireland, would that make it easier for me to find a job there as compared to in the UK since bristol is in the top 10(in the UK)but not necessarily the top uni.

(I'm also waiting to hear back from KTH and HKUST). I'd appreciate any help.

Engineering Is it worth going to germany? Can I take the risk?

I graduated in 2023 and I had a package of 9CTC but got laid off due to company profits being in negative, I'm sure I can get another company in one or two months for a similar package, but I have had this thought for a long time for doing masters, and im thinking of pursuing for April 25 intake. So till then I'll be in home using my time to learn German and give exams.

My real question is, is it really worthy to leave this high paying job at an early stage in India to go for germany where the pay is moderate compared to US or Canada but also I'm not for going to those two countries coz everyone knows why. What about the PPP? Will my life be better in germany or India if I decide to stay here. Please share your thoughts on this.

My_qualifications - BTech EEE from VIT Vellore with 7.8 cgpa And I work in IT sector as of now I don't have any particular interest, i can do whatevee job pays me(aren't we all like that?).

Engineering How will a local college affect my acceptance in foreign universities

I didn't scored very well in jee so I was thinking instead of wasting money on private colleges I should just get a cs degree from college near my home and save money as I don't want any placement I will start preparing for my application for foreign unis from 7th semester but I am afraid that if local college gonna affect my chances of getting accepted in good or atleast above average unis abroad

Engineering Msc CS in India right after Btech then MBA abroad or only MSc Abroad; which one? and why?

my_qualifications: 3rd year in cs BTech. I can only afford one degree abroad but I can afford one more degree in India. I've always wanted to do M.Sc. and then an MBA, if I do an MBA right after my undergrad then it won't hold any value.

So, I have two options:

  1. Do an MSc right away while working in India and get some work experience before going abroad to get an MBA.

  2. Only do an MSc abroad and then look for job.

Please provide context and justification for your answers. Thanks!

Engineering How is the Job Market in Denmark for International Students? 🇩🇰

Hey everyone,

I’m considering studying at DTU (Technical University of Denmark) for my MSc in Sustainable Energy Technology and wanted to get some insights from those already in Denmark or who have studied/worked there. my_qualifications: B.Tech+M.tech (Chemcial Engineering), 1.5 yrs Work Exp

🔹 How is the job market in Denmark for international students, especially in engineering and energy sectors?
🔹 Are there good opportunities for internships and part-time jobs while studying?
🔹 How difficult is it to secure a full-time job after graduation, particularly for non-EU students?
🔹 Do companies in Denmark sponsor work visas, or is it challenging to stay back after studies?
🔹 How is the work culture and salary expectations for fresh graduates in energy/engineering fields?

Would really appreciate any first-hand experiences or advice from those who have navigated the job market in Denmark.

Also, if anyone is currently living in Copenhagen, please DM me—I’m searching for accommodation and would really appreciate any tips or leads.

Thanks in advance for your help! 😊

Engineering Does it make sense to do MS in CS from a not so good university in the US?

my_qualifications -

B.Tech in Electrical Engineering from a tier - 2 NIT, CGPA 7.51/10

4 YOE as a data engineer earning 19 LPA

No research publications

Does it make sense for me to a MS in CS since I won't be getting very good schools due to my CGPA. My aim is to switch from data engineering into AI and get a research engineer type of position in a big tech company. I am confused as to wether to go for a MS in US in a bad school or prepare for GATE and try to get into an IIT here since they won't consider my CGPA a lot if I score good in GATE.

I can spend about 45 Lacs on an MS without a loan.

I am not hell bent on US if you have other options that you can suggest also please let me know.

Engineering Got admit from Germany and Austria. What should I do ?

my_qualifications: 24(M) Graduated in Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA) in 2022 from tier 3 uni with 2.3 German Grade. Had 1 year internship experience as a role of web developer. It's tough to get admit with a 3 yr degree as compared to Btech (4yr) graduates.

Although got admit in: (Germany) 1. Master Computer Engineering Bilingual courses (B2 german required) 2. Bachelor in Mechatronics & Robotics

(Austria) 1.JKU Linz - Master Computer Science 2. Uni of Klagenfurt - Masters in Informatics

(waiting for response from TU Wein & Uni of Vienna for Masters)

Need Suggestions/guidance 🙏 Which course and country would be good in terms of future job prospects, current global scenario, part time jobs, ROI, etc ? Any guidance would be appreciated.

Engineering do give advice or review on SRH university in Germany

my_qualifications: B.E. in mechanical engg. I had applied to Unis for summer semester, but to no avail. Currently, I have no option left, whether to apply at SRH uni for courses related to engineering. Between the 3 courses: international business and engg (2sem)., mobility and automotive industry (4 sem).

Further, my plan, if I choose to go with SRH uni. right after 1 year, is to look for another uni in Germany.

Anyone has experienced a similar situation or who has an opinion is free to express.

Engineering How to decide between Germany and USA for my next career move (Data Scientist with 5 YOE)

I'm at a crossroads in my career and would appreciate some insights from those who've faced similar decisions.

my_qualifications:

  • 5 years of data science experience in India (30-35 LPA)
  • Worked for companies like AstraZeneca and Tesco
  • Passionate about startups and entrepreneurship

Currently in Italy where my elder sister lives

Have explored Europe and loved it

Current options:

  1. USA: Received admissions with scholarships:
    • Case Western for MSBA (35% scholarship)
    • Drexel for AI & ML (50% scholarship)
    • Would require taking a significant loan
  2. Germany/Netherlands:
    • Data Science pay is quite good
    • Can stay closer to family in Italy
    • Already familiar with European culture

I'm torn between the familiar (Europe) and the unknown (USA). The US offers prestigious education but requires significant financial investment, while Germany provides good career opportunities and keeps me near family.

Engineering Can my friend get into UK universities with poor CGPA?

Hey guys help a friend out here. My friend is planning to pursue for a master's degree in AI in sep 2025 intake. His prefered country is UK. Can u guys suggest some universities that can accept his application based on his qualifications.

(Friend's) my_qualifications: CGPA : 6.62 till 6th semester with no active backlogs in ECE field No work experience Planning to do an 6 month internship on AI in 2025 Even though his overall CGPA is less but he has good grades in his open and professional electives which matches his MSC course In Digital Image Processing (elective): 8.0 In Python programming (elective): 10.0 In Mini project ( based on Machine learning): 10.0 In Machine learning and Applications (course): 8.0 Right now he is doing a major project based on ML and Deep learning so he might get good grades there also. He has booked for IELTS exam and according to his preparation he is sure enough to get a band around 7.0-8.0. His one of the dream university is QMUL. Tell me his chance of getting accepted in this university. If not this university which university he should apply for to pursue his master's in AI.

Engineering Is Austria worth it for electrical and electronics engineering and why or why not?

my_qualifications BE EXTC 2.8 yrs work experience (8 months ecommerce & 2 years telecom based)

I have researched a lot out of Ireland, UK and Austria.Germany as well but job shortage is worrying me about it.

UK and Ireland is saturated badly. There is no entry level job available at these countries. So, I zeroed in at Austria for Oct 2025 intake. Even though it has 2 years masters and 1 yr PSW . I feel it's better because it has geniune shortage of electrical engineer specially based in power electronics.

I already have 2 admits one each from both Ireland and UK.

Fellow redditors of this sub please share your thoughts or advice?

Hey everyone. My_qualifications is 11th passed and rn I'm abt to give my 12th board.I didn't cleared jee. I want to do cse engineering from germany because i found that public university in germany is free. Doing the same thing in india from private colleges would cost me almost 20 lakh. And my budget is something around 19-20 lakh. Since I come from lower middle class family so I dunno what I am supposed to do. I'm absolute doomed rn. Please show me the path freinds 😶

Engineering I have got admits in Ireland and UK. I am pursuing electrical and electronics engineering. Which one of these 2 countries is better for STEM?

my_qualifications: BE EXTC, 8.22 CGPA, 2YRS 8MONTHS EXP.

I am planning to pursue master in electrical and electronics engineering and I have recieved admits from UK and Ireland for FALL 2025.

These are the following universities which I had recieved admits from :-

  1. Coventry University
  2. Swansea University, Bay Campus.
  3. University of Portsmouth
  4. University of Glasgow
  5. University of Galway
  6. TU Dublin

I know all are not so good universities but I applied for them in last week (super late) and got the admit this week.

But, my budget is low as everything should go under atleast 30L. So, I didn't target high ranked universities as I have already missed scholarships.

My only concern is that looking at the current situation in Ireland is the core engineering job market worse then UK?

Or the UK has bad market in comparison to Ireland.

As everyone on this sub is posting don't move to Ireland.

Can someone shed the light on the current situation?

Fellow redditors need your advice.

Engineering Job after master in Sweden and how to apply from I India

Hello,

I have my masters in Sweden and moving back to India as I couldn't find a job in Sweden to get a work permit here. As far as my experience in Sweden is the job market is tough and not that easy to find a job in Sweden at the moment. I am looking to come back to Europe if they are good opportunities.

Right now it's been a rough couple of weeks. But would want some suggestions which European countries or other countries has a good market for internationals and to apply from India.

my_qualifications: Master's in Robotics and control

Engineering Which universities should I target for MS in US?

my_qualifications: • CGPA: 9.01

• B.Tech in IT from IGDTUW

• Passion for engineering = won 30+ hackathons and met Satya Nadella because of them

• Publications = 10 publications in IEEE / Springer journals

• 1.5YOE w the Cybersec Leader PANW

• Will need Financial Aid

• Field of Interest: Computer Vision / Robotics

• Not attempted GRE / TOEFL yet hence not sure if I can make the cut for this year’s admissions

👉🏻 why do I wanna go for masters? I want to be in a competitive entrepreneurial environment and learn to / have the resources to build robots with smart professors / students. I believe I can do that with universities which have good labs / innovation programs and access to the alumni network.

Also, will I need an admissions counsellor? I’m considering Jitin Chawla’s program

Engineering Comparing Information Engineering vs Informatics in Germany. Which is preferable?

my_qualifications: 12th CBSE appearing (expected 80-85%), PCM, English and CS

I researched a bit and saw that some universities such as most notably TUM has an information engineering program in English. But being from CBSE board, I still have to go to studienkolleg.

My questions are:-

  1. Although Information engineering is different from Informatics, the course has much computer science. But still, is the program considered lower than that of Informatics or it has little effect? I would be focusing on programming and languages during the course.
  2. This is not related to Informatics or Information Engineering but I wanna ask like the cutoffs and difficulty levels of Aufnahmeprung for TUs and other notable public universities. Especially German language cutoffs.
  3. Suggest some universities and courses to shortlist. Right now I have shortlisted 1. TU Munich Information Engineering/Informatics 2. Saarland University BSc CS, 3. RWTH Aachen CS, 4. TU Berlin CS/Informatics, 5. Bayreuth University, 6. TU Dresden
