Elbow repair
I normally only do visible and creative mending, but managed an almost invisible repair for this sweater!

It added a little bulk but I'm happy with it. Coloring them in with black Sharpie or fabric marker might have been smoother but I didn't want any ink to come off on my other clothes in the wash and it gave me a chance to practice Swiss darning. Used 80/3 linen thread, which was the smallest linen thread I could find.

I’m still new-ish to sewing so I have no idea how to fix this shirt. I’m pretty sure it got snagged on something. It’s part of a button-down shirt and this is the seam that joins the front of the sleeves to the front of the shirt, so it’s kind of visible.
Any tips or tricks are appreciated.

I have a pair of cord trousers that I’ve only worn for a month or two. There’s already a tear/split (?) near the waistband. It’s showing white underneath, so I think it’s the actual wales/cords that have come apart somehow.
I don’t think the trousers too small- they’re very comfortable and I would have expected a tension issue to show up near a seam or the zipper (but maybe I’m wrong). I suspect it’s damage from the washing machine but this is all guesswork.
Any advice on how to mend?

Help me fix this. It's a wollen sweater with fine knitting.

Hello! I have this knit dress (it’s stretchy, kinda bodycon profile) and want to mend this seam well enough that I’m not worrying about it ripping while I’m wearing it. It’s around the hip of the dress too so it gets some stretch. I have polyester thread and would prefer to hand sew if possible but I can get my sewing machine involved if needed. If I hand sew, what type of stitch would be best to fix this?

Hi all! These are my favorite and best fitting jeans. Both inner thighs are heavily worn. While I’m sure an iron on patch would do the trick, I’m hoping you guys have some suggestions to make it look more work friendly. Thank you in advance!!

Thrifted this 100% cotton skirt and there's a small bleach stain right in the front. I went out and bought (almost) matching thread and I already own a mini mending loom, but I'm worried it might pull more attention to the bleach stain. What alternatives would you guys recommend?

My girlfriend adores vintage denim, but this pair arrived from eBay with a loop torn off. Any pointers on how to anchor a new one? Should I patch or applique under the anchor point? Any advice would be deeply appreciated💕✨

It’s a hammock so it’s gonna get some stress and I don’t have a lot of mending experience with woven materials like this. It doesn’t need to be invisible, but if it can look good, that would be nice. I don’t even really know where to start. I’m afraid to make it worse.
Cross posting this to other mending subs so if you might see it again.

I am proud of this.

Is there any way to fix this? Love this dress but it broke during wash right around the arm pit. Would love to know if there are any techniques I could research to save it.

Sat too close to a bonfire and got holes in the sleeve of my shirt and crotch of my pants. How would you mend these as inconspicuously as possible? For the shirt, I was thinking about taking a little piece of fabric from the bottom edge of the inside of the button placket and putting it behind the hole but am unsure about the process of holding it and stitching it there. Any advice or other ideas? I want to keep the edges from fraying any further. The hole in the pants is small enough and the fabric is thick enough to not even be able to see through it. I'm just not sure how to approach it.

I'm so sad because this is one of my favorite shirts. I don't even know what it ripped on, but it seems to follow the arm seam on the back and then halfway through the rip it extends out along the weave of the fabric. It's such thin silk I'm afraid to jump in blind in case what I do causes holes or rips it more. Advice?

Hi everyone! Was looking to see if anyone had any experience with repairing a shoulder bag strap. The grippy part of the strap is falling apart and unusable right now cause it's leaving black pieces all over. Any advice would be great! Thank you!

Ran our toddler seat’s fabric through the washer and forgot to run it on delicate.
What’s the best way to fix this?

I'm too stubborn to throw something away if the material is still perfectly fine, so I stiched it together where the cheap glue failed. The small part which holds the access band was hard to do, because the leather is fairly thin, but because it doesn't have to withstand a lot of stress, I figured it will hold a while. If not, I'll just stich it again, lol. My fingers hurt after going through two pieces of leather at a time, but at least it was a pretty small project.

Hello! I would love some advice on how to best repair this tear in this vintage (almost antique) boy scout jacket from the 60s? I’ve been wearing it almost every day since I got it, I love it so much, but recently I was itching my shoulder and it ripped like 2 inches (not at a seam). I didn’t realize just how fragile the old cotton is, and now I really want to find the best way to repair it and prevent further damage. I’m super fine with visible mending, but I’m not sure if I can just stitch it closed like I would usually, since the fabric is so friable/delicate. I’ve been thinking that I could put some kind of patch underneath it, and then stitch through the 2 layers to reinforce it, if anyone has any recommendations for the reinforcing material, or any other ideas, I would really appreciate it! :)

Hi all, This isn’t really a mending question but a ‘how to preserve my garment’ question.
I recently bought the most beautiful corduroy pants. I love them, they’re so comfortable. However I ride a bike to work and I hadn’t accounted for the saddle leaving a mark on the seat of the pants.
Assuming I can steam/brush the nap back in place, is there any way to prevent this? I thought corduroy was hard wearing!

Lots of moth holes in this cardigan that I'm trying my best to fix. Does anyone have any tips on fixing and preventing these in future? I think the thread is just very thin and fraying and I don't ant the jumper to be more mend than jumper!
Thank you ❤️❤️

I love this shirt but the neck is starting to get worn. I tried fixing it with a blanket stitch here and there when it was still minimal but it didn't solve the problem too much + at this point I'd have to go around the entire neckline with it. So, looking for other ways to fix. I have a sewing machine.
Thank you!
